Calendar Girl Karen Marsden is back after cancer and wants your support

Karen Marsden - our safe-guarding administrator - is back at work after cancer and heading to be a Calendar Girl.     Karen, 48, was diagnosed after she went for a routine check fearing it could be in her genes. Her mum sadly died from stomach cancer in her 30s so when her sister was diagnosed with the condition in May last year she went for her own tests.

HRI is 50 today!! Meet the award-winning team which keeps the hospital in top shape!

   Fifty years ago today  (September 22, 1966) the first patients were admitted into the brand new Hudderfield Royal Infirmary. The new hospital had taken four years to build and replaced the former infirmary in Portland Place. It was officially opened in 1967 by the then Prime Minister Harold Wilson. (see pics attached).

   Comms' Jacqui Booth has dropped nine stones from 20 stones 9lbs  to 11 stones 9 lbs and says: "I'm the happiest I've been in such a long time."     She follows the Slimming World food optimising eating plan and virtually runs many CHFT colleagues must have witnessed.

Remembering our colleague Tracey Eaton today

   Friends and colleagues are this afternoon attending the funeral of HRI's Emergency Department's Tracey Eaton.     Tracey, from Lindley,  died suddenly earlier this month and the department at HRI has now set up a book of condolence. Tracey  worked at CHFT for 30 years and was a well-respected and thought-of member of our team.

Colleague Engagement Group come together for the first time - just ahead of this year's NHS National Staff Survey

Our new colleague engagement group met for the first time last week to see how we can all work together to make CHFT a better place to work.     Owen Williams chaired the inaugural meeting at Acre Mills saying "Having so many colleagues from such a wide range of work bases across the Trust was a real opportunity to press ahead together for change".  read more

HOOP is live and working well

Phase 1 of HOOP (Hospital Out Of Hours) went live at the Calderdale site at 5pm on Wednesday 14 September. This includes electronic task management system through Nervecentre to raise and delegate tasks during the ‘out of hours’ period overnight and all day at weekends and bank holidays.  read more

Stormtrooper support for CHFT's organ donation team

   Our organ donation team team was in charge of a massive stand-up version of the family game of "Operation" at the Syngenta Family Open Day on Sunday.     The idea is to transplant organs out of the body and onto a board with a pair of tongs against the clock.  read more

Anita Hill's big 50 is looming and she's raising money for wards 19/20

Medication Safety Officer Anita (pictured) is holding a week of fun and frolics for her birthday to raise funds. Attendance Management Drop-ins at HRI and CRH and in community

The Attendance Management Team has organised a series of drop in sessions for all colleagues.     Members of the attendance team will be available to offer advice, support and guidance with regard to the Policy on Attendance Management. There will be an opportunity for colleagues to talk to members of the Occupational Health team on health and wellbeing.  read more

Market Place tomorrow: Celebrating Success 2016 judging and new draw

It's crunch day tomorrow for our finalists in this year's Celebrating Success.     We had the biggest ever amount of entries and the judges faced an enormous task to arrive at shortlist. They will now will be presenting their projects more fully at the traditional Market Place at the Learning Centre at HRI before a range of judges from all areas.  read more
