Pathology proud to offer a super quick service for breast cancer patients - helping many avoid unecessary treatment

CHFT has one of the fastest turnaround times in the country for a test which indicates the response to chemotherapy for breast cancer patients.     Oncotype DX is a clinically indicative test, approved by NICE, funded by NHS England, which allows the team to test patients to see if chemotherapy is the right option for them.

Matron Jan Carter works with colleagues to triple the number of flu immunisers in Surgical

“It’s our professional responsibility to us, our families and even more importantly our patients to have the vaccination. So supporting the flu campaign is really just an extension of that”.     Jan has worked hard with her colleagues to boost the numbers from 1 immuniser per area (and in some cases - none) to a minimum of three per area.

Dan's gone bananas for World Physiotherapy Day....coming in on his day off and negotiating a fab quiz prize.

Physiotherapist Dan Moore is so passionate about the role physios play at CHFT he's turned World Physiotherapy Day into a three day event....even negiotating a prize of free gym membership as a quiz prize.     Dan told us "Many people associate physiotherapy with walking older people up and down corridors or giving massages.

One of the greatest assets we have at CHFT is our colleagues. To make sure they have enough information to support their own health and wellbeing, as well as that of their patients, families and friends, we are creating a new wellbeing handbook - and we need ideas from colleagues about what they'd like including in it.  read more

CHFT Events

New MRI unit arrives at HRI this weekend - there will be some disruption along South Drive

On Saturday 10 September the new MRI Relocatable Unit will be delivered to site and it will be installed on Sunday 11 September.     Late on Saturday the unit will arrive on site and be parked in the cordoned off area on South Drive.     There will be no parking on South Drive itself next to the Cedarwood unit and Trust HQ during installation.  read more

Back by poular demand.....A Great Day Out (free for CHFT colleagues)

“The ‘Great Day Out!’ is back by popular demand due to a hugely successful pilot.     The next one takes place on Tuesday 25 October 9.30 a.m. – 3.30 p.m at the Westwood Centre, Golcar.     The first pilot day was so well evaluated by those that came, it's been agreed to make it a regular feature of CHFT life.  read more

AGM - Focus on the Future

We've gone all hi-tech for our AGM this year which is next Thursday, September 15, at Calderdale Royal Hospital.     All the latest digital equipment - supporting delivery of compassionate care - will be on view for members of the public. This includes the electonic patient record system and Nervecentre.  read more
