Tears flowed today when EPR midwife Carol was announced as latest Star Award winner

Carol Gregson is “an all-round fantastic person” - and our latest Star Award winner. And many of her colleagues were in tears today (Thursday) as she was given her certificate by Owen at a surprise presentation.     She has been the vital link between EPR, our midwives and our mums this past year as electronic patient records are rolled out.

By 'eck, tha' wa' grand! Yorkshire Day celebrated and Scarecrows from the team on 7B.

Flat caps, white roses were worn and the flags were flying. A Yorkshire quiz was done by patients and families with Yorkshire pens as prizes.     We also held the Wars of the Cheeses and Teas (Lancashire v Yorkshire!) which patients, relatives and staff participated.

We’ve been having a real mixture of weather this past week.     This meant we got to see this beautiful rainbow over CRH, taken by Clerical Coordinator Beverley Noble (LDRP CRH).                The photo can be seen skimming the beautiful countryside of Siddal.

Junior docs get top training from the very start

Our team and some fab nursing volunteer colleagues have supported all the 45 new FY1 Doctors (who have just started at CHFT) through their Aseptic Non-touch Technique assessments.      It proved to be very successful and the new doctors really appreciated this additional support prior to commencement of their placements.

Consultation Update: the independent summary into the Right Care,Time, Place responses is here

Consultation into a proposed new-look for healthcare in our hospitals and community ran from March to June this year.  Colleagues and the public were invited to submit their views via a variety of ways including an online survey. They have now all  been assessed and the report is attached here.  read more

Roll up, roll up - get your free herbs and veg here!

It doesn't seem two minutes since Incredible Edibles were planting herbs and veg at CRH - and now the produce is ready for picking - and it's all FREE!     So if you're passing why not take some home with you or grab some to accompany your lunch? It will give us room to plant more lovely luscious stuff.  read more

Being green means no green beans (or Green Tea bags!) - though we ARE seeking Green Champs

We’re all used to recycling at home and now we need to put that into practice at our Trust. The eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed recycling bins going into clinical areas.        The green bags we now use are for dry mixed recycling where paper, card, plastic and metal is separated out (see main photo).  read more

More silverware for Estates

On the 1st July the Constructing Excellence awards night for Yorkshire and Humber 2016 was held in Leeds. Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with partners Lendlease Consulting and Interserve scooped the award for Integration and Collaborative Working, beating strong competition from 10 other finalists. Our PLACE results have been published  - see the link of the full results below.   Briefly....here's a summary.  Cleanliness CRH 98.86%  HRI 99.8%  Food CRH 91.39% HRI 90.56%  Organisation food CRH 92.06% HRI 91.06%  Ward food CRH 91.115 HRI 90.41%  Privacy and dignity CRH 84.83% ( not sure why this score is lower) HRI 93.  read more

CHFT Events

Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) takes place on Thursday 15 September

Our AGM takes place on Thursday 15 September. And with the launch of EPR almost upon us, this year there will be a focus on all things technical at CHFT.        Each year we alternate between HRI and CRH to hold the AGM. This year's event takes place in the learning centre at CRH on Thursday, September 15th from 4pm.  read more
