Newly trained Flu Fighters at CRH means every single shift day AND night will have an immuniser come October

Knowing we see patients at their most poorly and vulnerable spurred senior sister Stacey Jackson from A&E to organise flu training for her whole team.     Our Flu Fighter training programme kicked off this week as 12 sisters from A&E and MAU at CRH were trained as peer immunisers.

Our next long service awards will have an absent attendee. It's Moby the catfish - a star on children's outpatients at HRI for 25 years!     The foot-long super fish has been nominated and now it's of- fish-al! So it just proves any-fin is possible.

Halving waiting times: Meet our ace Acute Coronary Syndrome Team

Our Acute Coronary Syndrome team manage the elective cardioversion service, and this year have had some tremendous results.     They have reduced the average waiting time for the procedure from 83 days to 36 days despite an increase in referrals – so read on to find out more about the team from Cardiac Nurse, Alison Eales.

Praise for areas of good practice in elderly care at CHFT

Around 70 people attended a recent Elderly Care Time Out event set up in response to the recent Invited Service Review by the Royal College of Physicians for Elderly Services.     The aim was to develop a strategy for Elderly Care Services for the next 3-5 years, across both patches and across both hospital and community care.  read more

Right Care, Right Time, Right Place (RCTP) - update

To keep colleagues as up-to-date as possible, here is a summary of what is happening between now and 20 October, when a decision about the next steps will be made at a meeting in parallel, in public, by the CCGs.     NHS Midlands and Lancashire Commissioning Support Unit are currently independently collating and analysing all survey data and feedback to produce a report.  read more
