Rotational midwife, Rosie Brear, has recently delivered her 100th baby which also happens to be her first experience of a homebirth out in the community.     Rosie trained as a midwife until September 2015 after graduating from the University of Huddersfield, and began her career at the Trust in that October on the labour ward.

National Ambulatory Care Collaborative hosted at CHFT

Key members of the National Ambulatory Care Collaborative came to CHFT yesterday (Wednesday) to discuss the ongoing development and expansion of our ambulatory units as part of the Safer Patient Programme.     Ambulatory care is a term used when care is generally provided on a specialist unit (either medical or surgical) to avoid having a stay in hospital.

What a team! Barca and Yorkshire Fertility looking to join forces

Our Trust is looking to develop a partnership with fertility colleagues at the amazing IVI Fertility group.      The IVI group have a number of clinics throughout Spain, and we were invited to look round the Barcelona clinic. If the partnership with us goes ahead our Trust will be the Barcelona clinic's hub in the north of England.

Kate's legacy WILL live on at CHFT!

Our Trust is reviving and renewing our commitment to the "Hello My Name Is..." campaign following the recent death of its creator, HRI-born Dr Kate Granger. It's a real NHS changer and over the next few weeks there will be a major push for more of us to use it all the time.

Operational changes and some new appointments

There are a few changes in operations this month to tell you about.     Firstly, the title of the Assistant Divisional Director will change to Director of Operations for their Division. The change better reflects this important strategic role and is consistent with other trusts and the wider health and social care system.  read more

Our Trust Board structure charts have been updated - please replace your current versions

Our new Director of Workforce and Organisational Development Ian Warren joined us this week, so we now have a full Executive Team here at CHFT.      Ian was previously Director of HR and Organisational Development at United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust, and prior to that he was the Director of HR and OD for Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust.  read more

It may still be summer...but we've already planned our 'flu immuniser training dates

Yes you read it right. Whilst we've been basking in the lukewarm summer sun, planning for this year's winter 'flu vaccination campaign has been underway and our peer immuniser training kicks-off next week.     The dates are attached and have already been shared by the 'Flu Vaccine Steering Group - which is made up of a whole host of colleagues from right across CHFT.  read more

Five star effort on ward 5ABD at CRH

Staff and relatives teamed up for a cracking fundraiser on wards 5abd at CRH.     Biscuits, buns, roulade went down like hot cakes and in all more than £130 was raised to buy crafts equipment.     This will provide stimualtion for elderly patients for activities such as doing jigsaws and colouring.  read more

Physician Associates (PA) students joining the Trust     Some of you may have already heard of Physician Associates – they are a ‘new healthcare professional who, whilst not a doctor, works to the medical model, with the attitudes, skills and knowledge base to deliver holistic care and treatment under clinical supervision’.  read more

Incredible Edibles launch day a success - green fingered friends being sought

The launch of the Incredible Edible Health Centres and Trees for Well Being event took place on Thursday 28 July at CRH with lots of interest from colleagues and visitors.     It was an opportunity to see the work which will be taking place in Health Centres in Calderdale and at the hospital.  read more

Changes to Trust accommodation charges from 1 September

Our Trust accommodation charges have remained static for five years. We’ve recently carried out a review, and from Thursday 1 September our prices will change.     There will be a charge of £25 per night. For those requiring accommodation for a calendar month or longer, the cost will be £400 per month.  read more

e-Rostering have moved. All contacts details

This week the eRostering Team have relocated to the HRI site and are now based in Room 2, in the old Clinical Audit Office in the sub-basement by the Spice of Life canteen.     Our new office contact details are HRI 6934/6935 and of course we are still available on our mobiles via switchboard  read more

Our next Mindfulness course aimed at supporting the health and wellbeing of CHFT colleagues starts next Friday 12 August at HRI, and there are a few spaces left.      The free six week course is a partnership event run by Workforce Wellbeing and Chaplaincy.  read more
