Tribute to our great cardiac team

Pacemaker patient Paul O’Donoghue returned to the cardiac ward at HRI to donate £200 to say thankyou for his care.  The 64-year-old who retires this summer from the Council is now planning a 500-mile trek across northen Spain’s St James’s Trail to celebrate.The donation came from his retirement collection.

Costa Queen - Sam wins top award!

HRI coffee queen Samantha Womersley has won Costa's top, national award for best and friendliest customer service.  Sam, recently promoted to assistant manager, scooped the "Customer Heartbeat" award  beating 200 others at the finals earlier this month.

Long-serving Anne Robinson was the toast of the night at our Long Service Awards at CRH yesterday evening.   Anne,a former health visitor and latterly working in sexual health at Broad Street, collected a gold certificate in recognition of her amazing 52 years in the NHS.

Estates and colleagues from across the Trust gave Gary Ashton a grand send-off.  Gary joined the NHS in 1981 at Storthes Hall Hospital after six years  in The Royal Navy.  read more

Confidentiality: what you need to know!

Everyone working within Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust must be aware of his or her responsibilities when using and accessing confidential information.   All NHS bodies and those carrying out functions on behalf of the NHS have a common law duty of confidentiality to patients and a duty to maintain professional ethical standards of confidentiality.  read more

Spreading the sharps message

Make sure you're sharp safe!

The Sharps awareness week run by our Infection Prevention & Control Team runs until Sunday.  The campaign this year is emphasising  the importance of the use of Personal Protective equipment (PPE), gloves, aprons, masks to reduce risk of hollowbore needle & splash injury.  read more

Spam emails alert

Many of you are reporting you have received a strange spam email which often includes a bogus invoice attached to it. Some also look as though they are from the DVLA.  If you receive one which you do not recognise please  do not open the attachment and delete it.  read more

Healthy eating on a tight budget

Have you heard of the council’s Kirklees Food Initiative and Nutrition Education (FINE) Project?     We run free training courses to council staff or volunteers working with; families with young children, women of child-bearing age, vulnerable adults such as older people, young people (16-21) black and minority ethnic groups.  read more

 Here’s your last chance to book a bike MOT.
