Our docs give their CHFT training a massive thumbs up... again!

Once again, we have done really well in the GMC survey of doctors-in-training. This is a national survey and allows us to benchmark ourselves against other organisations down to a specialty level.     100% of our trainees responded and overwhelmingly they found our Trust friendly and supportive for their FY1 career.

ISS cleaner Nathan Miah's swapped his vac for a video camera to direct a new recruitment filmd for the Trust.     The short film will feature a commentary from our CEO Owen Williams talking about working at CHFT and living in West Yorkshire and stars colleagues from all areas.

Happy First Birthday Community Division and here's our amazing Respiratory Care Team

CHFT Weekly is celebrating our Community Division’s First Birthday - and hailing a big success!     Our reworked Respiratory Care team  has taken on the huge project of making this care more streamlined, seven days a week and, put simply, just better for our patients.

We're used to patients and their families saying nice things about us. But how often do we say them to each other? Team to team?     This week CHFT Weekly was handed this email from day Surgery to Facilities in praise of all the work they do for them. And sent us this fab pic too which cements the closeness which, of course, provides a better service for our patients.

Farewell Gill Doodson

Our health visitor, Gill Doodson, is retiring from the Trust after 28 years with us.     After her husband got a job at Webster's brewery in Halifax, they relocated from Newcastle and her career began as a nurse in December of 1988, before becoming a health visitor at Beechwood health centre.  read more

Safe today, safer tomorrow....workshop hears updates on work-to-date

Colleagues from inpatients and community joined local authorities and Locala to hear informal updates and feedback from staff involved in the Safer Patient Flow Programme at a recent workshop.     The subjects covered ranged from a new way of delivering rehabilitation and a models of treating people at home without the need to admit them to a hospital bed.  read more

E-learning programme to support improved care for serving personnel, veterans and their families

Health Education England e-Learning for Healthcare, with support from NHS England, has launched an e-learning programme to help increase understanding of the armed forces population and facilitate improved care and treatment.  read more

Next Mindfulness course starts in August - book your place now

Our fourth Mindfulness course aimed at supporting the health and wellbeing of CHFT colleagues begins on 12 August. It's free and open to all.      Almost 50 colleagues from a wide range of disciplines, grades and sites across CHFT have attended the three courses that have previously been run.  read more

Children's diabetes team - sponsored walk

The Children’s Diabetes team are doing a sponsored walk on the 11th of September to raise money for our trip to Ghyll Head Activity Centre for up to 30 children with diabetes in Calderdale and Huddersfield.     They will start at Milnsbridge on 11/09/16 at 10.  read more

Jayne Binns farewell coming up

It's Jayne Binns' (gynae assessment and Ward 4c) retirement on Wednesday, August 31, after 40 years.     There's a bit of a do from 1-4 pm and everyone is welcome to drop in and wish her well.     It's in the Resource Room on the gynae assessment unit at CRH.        read more

Win lots of pamper prizes at Helen Finelli's Ladies night

Paediatrics Sister, Helen Finelli, is raising funds for various items on the ward, in particulary to purchase some Vapotherm machines prior to the winter period.     On 28th July, she is holding a ladies evening at Parky’s Bistro in Milnsbridge Huddersfield, with a £5 admission on the door.  read more
