"Great work which should be rolled out nationally!" CHFT win top award for Dementia Care

   It was a massive night of celebration on Tuesday when our pioneering dementia and prevention of delirium care was hailed the very best at the HSJ's Patient Safety Awards.     Our team beat off eight other finalists to clinch the top award for Dementia Care at the finals at Manchester Central.

Ab Fab rehab! Physios turn to film power

   Our patients have a new series of videos to support their rehabilitation at home.     Our physios have just finished a series of videos filmed in physio outpatients which are now on the physio outpatient website.

In memory of Mark Ronan and Susan Stephenson

   Two events are taking place to celebrate the memory of two much-loved colleagues who have sadly passed away.     On Saturday , members of our infection prevention and control teams are taking part in the Colour Run in memory of colleague Mark Ronan who died this year.     He only joined the Trust last October.

She's got the MaX-factor! Meet our new Green team including "Hulk" Bushby!

There's been a fresh, new look on our wards and departrments this week after a drastic uniform new-look in estates.     Our cleaning and support colleagues (see attachment) now wear lime green tunics and dark  blue trousers - the first change in years. They all have name badges too to help communications with ward colleagues and patients.

IMPORTANT: HRI Fire Alarm sounds

Please  make sure your teams are all aware of the two sounds and what they mean.     If a fire (or potential problem) occurs in your area you will hear a two-tone alarm.     If you hear a single bleep being repeated (like a reversing vehicle) it means there is a problem in the hospital but not in your area.  read more

More privacy and support for bereaved families at HRI

   HRI has a new facility to support families who grieving and trying to sort out matters after a  bereavement.     The “Certification Office” at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary was officially opened by our chaplain George Spencer at the end of June.  read more

Reducing the prescribing of over the counter medicines campaign

   This week NHS North Kirklees and NHS Greater Huddersfield Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) have launched a campaign designed to reduce the prescribing of medicines used to treat common ailments and which are readily available over the counter in pharmacies and supermarkets.  read more

Decision date for next steps in consultation announced

October 20, 2016 is the next big date in the progress of the  Right Care, Right Time, Right Place proposals.     The 14-week period of formal public consultation on proposed future arrangements for hospital and community health services ended on Friday June 24.  read more
