Children's nurse Heather Rhodes thanked after boy collapses in park.

Children's nurse Heather Rhodes has been hailed a hero after rushing to help when a little boy collapsed in a park.     Danyaal Ullah had collapsed and stopped breathing in Greenhead Park in Huddersfield. His panic-stricken grandad, Rashid, shouted for help just as our Heather was leaving.

New Bed to Bag waste disposal scheme improving the experience of our patients

Our new bed to bag waste disposal scheme is being rolled out across the Trust - with positive feedback in the early stages.     The scheme, introduced to improve patient experience and help us be more efficient in our waste disposal, is around 90 per cent complete at CRH and well underway at HRI. It is likely to be complete in mid to late July.  read more

Fat club fundraisers

Ward 4C/Gynaecology Assessment Unit have held a charity event to raise money for The Fire Fighters' Charity.     The team held a slimming club lasting 12 weeks at the beginning of January on the ward called the 'Fat Club' and set about losing weight and raising money.  read more

Our team in Zalau

Hands across Europe.... Romania 10th visit

Staff from CHFT were part of a team of healthcare professionals invited to speak at a national conference in Zalau, in the heart of Transylvania Romania last month.     It was Carole Hallam’s 10th visit to Zalau where she and other CHFT staff have been providing support to Zalau Emergency Hospital since 2004.  read more

Treating our patients as their own family. Praise for cardiac physiology during Volunteers Week.

Patient flow have moved - but still on same numbers.

The patient flow team/ hospital at night are moved from the patient flow office located opposite theatres to corridor 5 at HRI  on June 15th.     The team are available on mobiles as previously via switchboard for the site commander, medical and surgical beds.  read more

The Kirklees Community Learning Disabilities Team is splitting into separate Health and Social Care teams

From the Monday 20th of June 2016 all the LD health staff including Nursing, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Dietetics,  Psychology , Intensive support and Psychiatry will be joined under one team called ‘The Kirklees Community Learning Disabilities Health Team’.  read more

BME Health Forum a hit with health visitors and the community

Our health visiting team recently attended a BME Health Forum at Queens Road Neighbourhood Centre in Halifax.     The Health Visiting team from Horne Street (Health visitors Julie Rashid, Sarah Eastwood, Lisa Delaney and Child Development Support Asma Bi ) found the event surpassed their expectations around community engagement.  read more

A great day out - final few places!

Go on, treat yourself! There are still a few places left on the Great Day Out on Tuesday 12th July.     Hospital Chaplain, George Spencer, said: "This is a day of relaxation and ‘me time’ for CHFT staff with sessions on resilience training, reflections on being rather than doing and a mindfulness taster. There will also be a chance to have a go at being creative.  read more
