Amazing comeback wins trophy for THIS

There was the legendary Liverpool FC in Istanbul in 2005 and earlier this month there was Liverpool v Dortmund, but a comeback for the Health Informatics team is well up there with the great comebacks in footie history..... ish!     They clinched the trophy at the annual Leeds NHS 5-a-side at Powerleague Leeds Central last Friday night.

Ready, teddy, go - improvements for children having day surgery at HRI

A workforce boost for HRI’s Day Surgery Unit is starting to reap benefits for children.     Three paediatric staff nurses are now in post which means there is a real focus on improving things for the children having day surgery with CHFT.

Fastest miles were the last two.. Paula Pickersgill's amazing first marathon

Stoma nurse Paula Pickersgill romped home in 4 hours 32 mins in her first ever London marathon fundraising for our two local hospices Kirkwood and Overgate.     And sheer "crowdpower" at the end meant she ran her two fastest miles up to the finishing line!     She said: " It was fabulous. I am still on cloud 9, it's an amazing feeling.

Nice kit for ISS - new uniforms on parade

ISS colleagues at Calderdale have been strutting their funky stuff as they helped show off a new range of  uniforms being rolled out across their organisation.     The fashion show, held in Ingleton Falls restaurant last week, was an opportunity not only to showcase the new uniform, but also to thank colleagues for their efforts around the CQC visit.

Alison Edmondson retires

This week, Alison Edmondson our staff Staff Nurse has retired after first joining the Trust way back in 1976 - 40 years ago!     Her nursing roles have included working in Orthopaedics, A&E, and ICU, before spending the last 8 and a half years working in the discharge lounge leading up to her retirement.  read more

Skin integrity and infection prevention conference

The University of Huddersfield is holding its 1st International Skin Integrity & Infection Prevention Conference in June.    The objectives of the conference are to explore new infection/prevention management strategies, to address new preventative and therapeutic strategies in light of antibiotic resistance amongst other things.  read more
