Big day for CWF

Our first free event "Thinking of Having a Baby?" proved a hit with  local parents-to-be.  Our pregnancy and maternity experts delivered a series of presentations on a range of subjects from ante-natal scanning, fertility care and breastfeeding and a host of CWF colleagues attended - see photo. So a big thankyou to them all.

Teddy's travels for stroke awareness

Meet Little Ted!. He's the star of the Trust's campaign for Stroke Awareness Month in May. He's been knitted by staff - and he also has a companion Tiny Tess - and they are going walkabout all over the country and logging selfies to boost awareness of the successful FAST campaign.

IT partner confirmed

This week our CEO Owen Williams and the CEO at Bradford Teaching Hospitals, Clive Kay, jointly signed the contract with healthcare IT specialists Cerner.

60 at our Bridging the Gap day at CRH

Sixty FY2 doctors from across the Yorkshire Deanery attended a Bridging the Gap day on Palliative and End of Life Care this week.  The day was organised and delivered by members of the Specialist Palliative Care Teams at CHFT, and Kirkwood and Overgate Hospices.  read more

Transport survey for cheaper bus fares

The West Yorkshire Travel Plan Network works with employers in West Yorkshire promoting greener ways of travelling to work.  The Travel to Work Survey is held each year and measures the type of travel modes commuters are using.  Please take a couple of minutes to complete the survey as the results do count towards us receiving the 15% discount on Corporate Metrocards.  read more

Hello My Name Is... Roadshow

Hello my name is has been spread through the Trust this week. Starting off with its launch on Monday where two stands in both site entrances with Gemma Berriman at HRI and Karen Melling and Melanie Groocock at CRH.  They then took the campaign out onto both sites and spent the day touring  around the wards and departments.  read more

Opening hours - Spice of Life

The staff 20% discount scheme for the “Spice of Life” catering service has proved popular with staff. However, part of this agreement included a review of customer numbers, particularly over the weekend period, to ascertain the on-going viability.  read more

Overseas visitors survey

The Department of Health is undertaking a piece of research to evaluate the impact of their work on visitor and migrant cost recovery in the NHS.  The research agency ipsos MORI may contact some colleagues by phone to participate in a short survey  If you have any further questions please contact DH-Survey@ipsos.com              read more

Policies and work information

Mattress training is a "must do"

We are carrying out training on new equipment and, at the moment, not enough staff have signed on for training.  The new hybrid mattress (atmosair) and new bed will improve patient harm and also reduce cost of hiring equipment, so will save the Trust a lot on money.  read more

New Library opening times at CRH

The Library at CRH will have new opening hours from Monday the 2nd of March. These will be Monday to Friday 8:30am to 6:30pm  read more

Could you be a foster parent?

Kirklees want to recruit more foster carers to look after the children of Kirklees.  They have been working hard to be as inclusive as they can and their guidelines, particularly around working hours are being reassessed allowing the consideration of individual circumstances rather than the blanket rules.  read more
