Celebrating Success 2015 - the results from last night!

Cheers rang out and emotions ran high at stunning Huddersfield Town Hall last night at Celebrating Success 2015.     The top award of the night went to a team of midwives who now perform a little operation on newborn babies if they are born tongue-tied and cannot feed properly.

Deadline December 31! Your say on the Five Year Plan

   Next month we enter a very, important  stage in developing our  Five Year Plan.     The Five Year Plan has to be in place by the end of the year and is aimed at  improving safety, service quality, experience and outcomes for our patients and the delivery of high quality care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

In the pink... for charity

Pink-credible!

They were plastered in pink in the fracture clinic at HRI last week.     Boas and wigs were in place (in the non-clinical areas) and together our colleagues in orthopaedic outpatients made £120 for Breast Cancer Care charity. The idea was staff nurse Steph Leid as, like many, she knows people who have had a diagnosis.

Ste Walker, currently a patient on Ward 17 at HRI has launched an awareness campaign for the general public about disability which has gone viral.  Steve Walker, pictured with Sister Ria Petrovic, left,  and  staff nurse, Amy Emerson, is only 23 and qualifies for a disabled blue badge due to the complexity of his conditions.  read more

Team work to improve building and faciltiies for patients at HRI continues to win awards.     Our new oncology suite on Ward 7 and the continuing ward refurbishment programme has won a top award for  both bringing value and teamwork in the Constructing Excellence National Awards 2015.  read more

Goodbye Rachel James

Rachel James said her last goodbyes this month as she bid farewell to Huddersfield Birth Centre where she has worked as a midwife.     Rachel has worked for our Trust for 29 years, including with community and our antenatal clinic, and her last eight years were spent at Hudderfield Family Birth Centre.  read more

Success for our cardio apprentices Ieuan and Josh

Ieuan Jones and Josh Goldspink first joined CHFT in September 2014 for a one year course based at both cardiology sites. Now, a year on, they have both completed their Healthcare Science Level 2 apprenticeship and are now clinically & fully competent in ECG application and assist in the smooth running of a very busy Cardiology Department.  read more

If so why not supervise a pair of Leeds Medical Students with an extended project that you propose and they complete?     The Extended Student-led Research or Evaluation Project (ESREP) in the MBChB will help
