We’ve finally had confirmation of the date the CQC will be coming to inspect CHFT, and I don’t know about you but I’m pleased we can put some real focus behind all the planning we’ve been doing.        The CQC will be with us on 8 March 2016 for several days.

Huddles are the way forward for patient safety

Ward 11 (5) has been leading the way holding daily safety huddles, with other wards following their best practice.     Sister Amy Whitehead told CHFT Weekly:  “We always have a huddle at 9am Monday to Friday. Nurses, doctors, consultants and cardiology are all involved, and the most senior member of the team has a prompt list.

Pool room making a splash on our labour ward

The pool room on the labour ward has been refurbished and midwives were invited along to hear more about the difference it could make to women during birth.     Consultant Midwife Sue Townend told CHFT how the refurbishment is going to make a difference: "We really want to support women with complex needs in having a natural or water birth.

Payslip delivery one day later than usual this month - please share onward. Colleagues will still be paid on 27th and can view pay information on ESR

This month all colleagues will receive a CQC handbook with their payslips (see Owen's blog). To make sure colleagues who have more than one role at our Trust only receive one copy of the handbook, we need to spend a little extra time on the distribution process.  read more

Use a swipe card to access areas at CRH?

If you've not had your new photo taken then get in quick!     The new security access system at CRH is starting to be switched over, and more and more areas require colleagues to use the new fob/ID. If you have not yet had a photo taken then there are two sessions being held tomorrow and Monday. This includes colleagues who work across both sites.  read more

The Trusts 'Finance Our Future' training programme has been recognised as good practice by the Finance Skills Development (FSD) Network.     The FSD Network operates across all NHS organisations in England, and strives to provide infastructures for improving leadership and professional development skills amongst other things.  read more

Our post room teams need your help

When addressing internal mail to doctors at our hospitals, please make it easier for the post room to get it to the right place quickly by including a department.     Porter Keith Parker Kaye (pictured), based at CRH told us: "It's really time consuming when the department isn't listed, and it becomes even more tricky when we have a new intake of doctors.  read more
