They were the final words from Therapies Team leader Avril Henson at a packed buffet lunch to say farewell to community colleagues transferring to Locala.     In an emotional event, in the physio dept at HRI, Avril, said it was a time to celebrate all their achievements delivering patient care.

Payroll's Jane Webster - leaving after 44 years

Jane Webster began working for the NHS a whopping 44 years ago in 1971, (a year when Mars Bars cost 2p ...... interesting little fact from your CHFT Weekly team)!     Jane began in July of that year work as a clerical officer in the Group Treasurers department, and she can still recall the difference in office life today.

Inspirational Andrew Jackson scoops award

Divisional Director of Interserve John Gittins, took our Andrew Jackson on a trip to Birmingham... and he ended winning a top award!   After a year where he suffered two strokes Andy returned with the "Bring Better to Life" award for being an inspriation at work at the Interserve and Recognition Awards’ ceremony.

Our Trust has signed up to John’s Campaign.  Our aim is to improve care for patients with dementia when they are on our wards by welcoming their carers to stay with them and supporting them to help us to provide care if they wish to do so.  read more

Flour power for Macmillan Coffee morning

Our staff joined the big bake and brew off for the annual  Macmillan Coffee morning last Friday.  The first ever event was held in 1990 and it has raised more than  £138 million since. Here'sour round-up....  read more

Library staff at the charity book sale

Charity book sale - pancreatic cancer

The library at CRH are holding a book sale, which is located next to A&E on the first floor of the Learning Centre.  Funds raised will go towards helping the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, which is the only national charity exclusively funding research into pancreatic cancer throughout the UK, despite being the fifth most common form of cancer death in the UK.  read more

This edition features amongst other things; articles on the importance of reporting incidents to improve learnings and make our hospital as safe a place as possible and information about our Nutrition and Hydration Strategy which is being developed.  read more

Ward 18's blooming good garden party charity effort

Staff from ward 18 at HRI held a Garden Party raising funds for a charity called 4Louis.  The charity supports bereaved parents in many ways, and staff on ward 18 became aware of the charity when they were looking at their bereavement policy and how the death of a child is managed.  read more

Help keep our patients safe by having your flu jab soon

Our winter flu campaign starts proper next week and our vaccinators are poised and ready to make you feel fab by having your jab!     We'll be keeping colleagues posted with drop-in dates and information over the coming weeks in CHFT Weekly - but with almost 8000 deaths a year from flu it's important that we all do our bit to keep everyone safe this winter.  read more

Renal Physician Dr. Mansoor Ali recently presented a poster at the British Renal Society Annual Conference to show compliance with the Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) bundle - and scooped best in-group poster at the event.     Mansoor said "The poster generated lots of debate and interest.  read more

Acre Mills... another shortlisting

Acre Mills is heading to the Building Better Healthcare 2015 awards - the fourth awards ceremony this year.  The awards recognise the best in patient facilities and our combination of the Victorian wire mill now a 21st century healthcare century has been attracting plaudits all year since it was formally opened by our patients in February.  read more
