Our Eye Clinic Liaison Officer who provides support for patients with eye conditions at HRI has won a top national award.  Alice Elliott, based in Acre Mills has won the Macular Society’s Support and Community Rehabilitation Professional of the Year Award.

Chandrate is teaching champ.

The Leeds University School of Medicine has announced  Dr Sanjiv Chandratre - our former Director of Medical Education - has been named as a winner of the Excellent Longstanding Service to Undergraduate Clinical Education.  The School makes these prestigious awards annually having assessed nominations against criteria.

International recognition

A training programme at CRH and HRI for nurses to help them validate and record an expected death has won international recognition.  We have been shortlisted in the multi-disciplinary section of the International Journal of Palliative Nursing awards next month.

Mini hero Toby tours unit

SCBU welcome a mini hero (in his civvies) after an amazing fundraising effort.  Eight-year-old Toby Burgess, from Clayton, Bradford  was born ten and a half weeks prematurely weighing 2lbs 15oz at Calderdale Royal Hospital and stayed with us for  seven weeks of his life in the Special Care Baby Unit. His parents said: " The care and support we received was amazing.  read more

Patient safety is integral to the high quality care we all strive to deliver in Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.  Unfortunately care does not always occur according to plan, and identifying, and learning from such events is important to improve patient care.  read more

Join our I Care Day - Friday, September 18

cWe are a month away from our first Celebrating Nursing and Midwifery Conference. (Friday Sept 18 YMCA Salendine Nook )  So far 55 colleagues have signed up for the day of talks, presentations and stands highlighting the innovation underway at the Trust - all aimed at improving care for our patients.  read more

No more emails to IT service desk

From September 1 you will need to log your request for IT support instead of sending an email.  Emails will not be answered when the new system starts up so read the attachment and make sure you're up to speed with the changes.  read more

Getting hungry for the Catering Forum?

Don't forget our first open for all  Catering Forum - hosted by the team at HRI - is just a week away. ( Friday August 28 (2-4 pm) next to the Dining Room at HRI)  Everyone is invited to meet our caterers and dietitians, sample some of the food on offer and suggest other ideas for improvement.  read more

Looking ahead to the next Big Brief

The next Big Brief information sharing sessions are set for 8am on Wednesday 2 September in the Lecture Theatre at both sites. So colleagues have two weeks to plan ahead if they'd like to come.  The sessions, led by our Directors are an informal opportunity for colleagues to hear more about what's happening across the Trust and by division.  read more
