Dot's rescue ends off amazing year for Community

These dramatic flood pictures were taken by our community colleagues in the Calder Valley at the height of the devastation last Sunday.  Dot Chadwick – who celebrates 20 years as a community staff nurse this summer – became stranded as the waters in the river and the canal rose during her round in Todmorden at an alarming pace.

Our launch back in August was the best the Unsung Heroes Awards have ever known and now we've double reason to celebrate as we've four colleagues through to the grand finals at the end of this month.

We love you! Team celebrate Sarah Schorah's 31 years!

Our  Paediatric Diabetes lead Nurse Sarah Schorah has received a cake from her team to mark her being a Diabetic Support Nurse for 20 years  and 31 years and counting in the NHS  She was presented with a cake topped with two photos.

Bugs and rubber ducks in the dishwasher! Our Night in the Museum

Our team has been celebrating a Night in the Museum.... and it was a real "House of Horrors".  The Science Museum in London runs events called Science Museum Lates which are after-hours themed nights every month in London and we won an invitation supported by the Royal College of Pathologists.

Farewell to Peter Alderson

Colleagues yesterday packed Halifax Minster for the funeral of their much loved colleague anaesthetist Peter Alderson.  Southport-born Peter worked at the Trust since 1992 until ill-health retirement late last year.   read more

Here it is. The venue where our  2019/20 Flu Prize Draw winner will be spending a night of luxury.  It's the Yorke Arms in the beautiful North Yorkshire Nidderdale Valley and our Exec team have divvied up to pay for two people, for dinner B&B and travel there and back.   read more

Funball kicks-off with 100% effort

Our CHFT Funball group started last night (Wednesday) - with lots of fun, laughter and dashing around for those who came along.   Senior Finance Manager, Paula Crowther, Georgia Lane - daughter of district nurse matron Caroline Lane, and Systems Development Accountant, Sarah Laherty have set the club up (see below).  read more

Key cake says thanks for my care.

The ICU team at CRH are still chuckling after receiving a key-shaped thank-you cake from a patient and their family.  The patient spent time on ICU,  recovered and went home and wanted to thank them for all their care in a personal way.  read more

Mouth hygiene training rolling out trustwide.

   We have a Trust-wide training programme to help us deliver better mouth hygiene care for our less able patients, with over 400 frontline staff being trained last week.  Previously this was available  only on our ICUs and our Stroke Unit and is now being rolled out across all wards.  read more

The Dept of Health updates its information at 2pm every day their information for the public and healthcare workers.  Nationally, the UK has nine confirmed cases out of 1,750 tested.  read more
