"I came for a two hour visit and ended up getting married." Ward 22 teamwork sort John and Celia's wedding.

It’s not often something borrowed, something blue at a wedding is an NHS lanyard.  But when HRI’s ward 22 turned around a wedding in a day the bride was simply delighted with it.  John Dunleavy and Celia Hillam were due to get married this Tuesday (Oct 29) at Calderdale Register Office.

The NHS is complex..... but it's special, says Staff Governor Sally Robertshaw (and Scout her lab!)

Sally Robertshaw qualified as a physiotherapist in 1991 and has spent her career working in the NHS here in Huddersfield.  She completed her Master’s degree in 1996 and has worked at both HRI and CRH in her current role as Clinical Lead Physiotherapist, specialising in lower limb pathologies.

The family of a little boy who’s been helped to walk unaided have shared their thanks with our wonderful Children’s Therapy Team at Princess Royal.  Bobbi Robinson’s appointments are always heart-melting moments and he’s now doing so well after being diagnosed with cerebral palsy and struggling with his mobility.

Tour our Path Labs in National Pathology Week.

It's National Pathology Week (4-10th Nov).  Often called the "engine room" for all their diagnostic work, our teams are opening their doors for guided tours on Monday & Wednesday at  both HRI and CRH  . There will be two sessions each day one at 12:15 and one at 1:15. Places will be limited so it will be on a first come first served basis.  read more

'I keep crying' Jane Roebuck's last day farewell tears to Ward 3

HRI's Ward 3 said a fond farewell to Jane Roebuck (pictured fourth on the left) who's retired at the Trust after working here since 2005. She had trained in 1977 and went off on her travels including China, where she volunteered in mainland for two consecutive years at a childrens school to teach basic English.  read more

Julie and Michaela round off our HCA mini-series.

Throughout October we've been celebrating our HCAs and their contribution to CHFT providing compassionate care for our patients and their families.  Our Chief Nurse and Deputy Chief Nurse Ellen Armistead and Lindsay Rudge have been hosting a series of coffee drop-ins for our HCAs. Sharing Learning - Improving Care Summit photo special.

More than 40 colleagues attended Our Sharing Learning-Improving Care summit at HRI Learning Centre.  They were joined by representatives from Kirkwood Hospice.  Quality and Safety's Anne-Marie Henshaw facilitated the event, our CEO Owen  Williams came along to open it and we also heard from our Chief Nurse Ellen Armistead.  read more

Thanks Greenlea for your compassionate care...jelly and ice-cream included.

A cheque for more than £1k was presented to the Greenlea Unit at HRI as a thank-you for the care the team provided - including jelly and ice-cream.  The wife of Gary Binks, Karenne along with Managing Director of Staedtler UK Philip Wesolowski presented a cheque of £1004.41 which had been raised by Staedtler staff in memory of their much loved former colleague Gary.  read more

Natalka wants your help to improve our eye care services.

EyesWise is an NHS project that aims to save sight and improve lives and CHFT colleagues are invited to share their experiences. (see link to survey below)  The project wants to gather the stories of patients, carers and staff about their experience of using eye services since April 2018.  That's the date when the 100 voices campaign was launched.  read more
