"Listener" Karen Roberts scoops special Star Award - at patient's request!

Neurophysiology's Karen Roberts has won a special Star Award after her patients wrote to our CEO Owen Williams saying "The Trust should be proud of her."  They were so gushing about the care from Karen a one-off certificate was created to reflect their (and our) appreciation for everything Karen has done for them.

Colleagues came together for our two-day Leadership Event this week.  The event - at Acre Mills - had a Game Show theme on Day 1 and welcoming guests, Helen Barker urged the room to have fun. "It is about leadership but it is about fun," she said.

So special they gave me goose bumps. Outstanding praise for Ward 15's HCAs

We've a ward 15 hattrick as our celebration of our HCAs continues.  Jackie Murphy, Joe Bailey and Laura Hird were highly praised in a thank-you letter from a patient's daughter hailing them as 'unsung heros of the ward.' It was so lovely it gave their ward manager goose bumps.  The family wrote: "Nothing was ever too much bother.

Be positive ... but don't hoover the grass! CQC top tips on Leadership Day 2 - and a Bake Off too.

Our Chief Nurse Ellen Armistead - in photo - started Day 2 with an insider's view into "the dark side"  - aka the CQC.  Before she joined our Trust, Ellen was a CQC Deputy Chief Inspector and she adopted the 1960s TV show "How" as her theme.

After 18 years here, Karen Bates has become a qualified Emergency Planning Officer (EPO) and her role is now part of our Community Healthcare Division. She loves admin, walking, her family and her cat.  read more

Wear It Pink Day tomorrow for Breast Cancer Awareness. Tell Comms!

It's Wear it Pink Day tomorrow - which brings together thousands of people on one day -  all with the aim to raise money for breast cancer research.   Our Day Surgery Unit are taking part and have lots of competitions on! (See attached)   It's £5 to enter three competitions all for Breast Cancer.  read more

Our pioneering ED/AMU Palliative Care Project  enabling us to deliver palliative care early in a patient's journey has been short-listed in the Innovation Category at the Macmillan Professional Awards.  read more
