They've been hailed the "shop window" to the organisation and in recognition of everything they do for us, CHFT is celebrating our HCAs.  Our Trust has 750 HCAs in our teams and departments -  that's around 12% of our total workforce -  so they're a huge part of how we care for our patients.

White Rose badges are so blooming lovely.

The White Rose badge is given to all newly-qualified nurses on their uniforms.  The intention is the badges are worn for the first six months following graduation so staff colleagues know they are registered nurses and may require some support.  We have the new graduate registered nurses who started last week.

Reunion at HRI after 50 years... and don't Sisters look young now!

   It has been our pleasure to give a tour around HRI for a group of nurses who all trained in 1969 - just three years after HRI opened. They contacted the Trust  telling us about their 50th anniversary and we invited them back in for a tour  and look around HRI from Jeanette Cockroft and Cath Briggs.

Pioneering First Steps launches - all eyes are on CHFT!

Next week sees the start of our pioneering ‘First Steps Cancer Programme’  - a new information and support session for patients soon after their cancer diagnosis. The aim of the programme is to help patients to support themselves by giving information on diet, keeping active, managing emotions/fatigue, and knowing about services which can support them.  read more

40 NHS years for "Capt" Stephen Wiggins - and the Chernobyl warning.

EPR Business as Usual team member, Stephen Wiggins recently celebrated 40 years' service with CHFT!  Stephen - in peaked hat -  used to work in the Pathology lab before joining The Health Informatics Service and now he’s part of the joint EPR Business As Usual Back office team.  read more

How we achieved the EPR Big Bang! Digital Health National Showcase roundup.

CHFT has hosted our first Digital Health Showcase Day in the Learning Centre at HRI.  Around 60 nursing delegates from around the country attended with speakers from our Trust as well as our EPR partners Bradford.  read more

It could be you. Staff Lottery needs committee members

Our Staff Lottery Committee is looking for new members.  The Committee is currently four short (they need 10) and is looking for new recruits from both clinical and non-clinical backgrounds to asses and allocate the bids it receives from across the Trust.  read more

It's Speak Up month in the NHS

Colleagues can sometimes find it difficult to speak up about issues. They may not know who to speak up to, or may feel that their issue will not be taken seriously and nothing will be done as a result. This month is National Speak Up Month, and we're putting on listen and learn surgeries and other events to help raise awareness amongst colleagues.  read more

Recruitment event reminder  Our next big recruitment event falls on Saturday 12th October at HRI.   We have had an excellent response so far, with almost 60 candidates signed up for the event, and room for up to 80.  read more
