In memory of Dad. A&E's Laura's very poignant story in Organ Donation Week 2019.

Staff nurse Laura Wyles never forgets the moment when she was working on cardiology at CRH and got a call from her mum saying her father had had a heart attack and was in hospital.  Tom Wyles, then 63, had been volunteering at a centre for lonely, elderly people moving furniture around when he collapsed in February 2016.

Community's Laura is honoured to join SAM's Council.

Our Clinical Lead Physiotherapist Laura Jennings is an AHP Council Representative for the Society for Acute Medicine (SAM). And following a successful roadshow the scene has been set for the next conference in Harrogate next month.  Laura was elected in January 2018 after being put forward by Dr Scriven (SAM President) and Dr Crossland (President Elect).

Our Health Care Assistant at CRH ED Amy, pictured right in full flight, is off again to take part in the Rugby League World Cup 9s  Down Under.  This World Cup is based at the Parramatta stadium in Sydney next month and will run along side the men's World Cup 9s on the same two days.

Cath Whitworth's a pool star 20 years after her transplant

Twenty years after Cath Whitworth received her new liver, she's celebrating with an outstanding performance at the World Transplant Games.  She achieved two personal bests in the pool -  faster than when she first started swimming for her country 20 years ago.  read more

Helen Jones has worked her last day as operational Manager in ED after two years...before she moves on to be a Clinical Commander in the Central Operations team.  read more

Bite-sized learning - Personal Protective Equipment is there for a reason

It is very important to make sure you are wearing the correct  masks -  Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) equipment - when caring for patients with suspected infectious organisms..  A number of colleagues needed treatment as they hadn't been wearing them and had been exposed to potential meningitis.  read more

End of Life ESR training now available

End of life care training is now part of ESR Role Specific training for appropriate clinical staff. The aim is to ensure all clinical staff, no matter which ward or area they work in receives training about the Individual Care of the Dying Document (ICODD) and also about the practical help available to support our staff, patients and families.  read more
