The room erupted as Mandy Griffin was hailed as the Digital Health Awards Chief Information Officer of the Year 2019.  It's the second big win for CHFT and follows Jackie Murphy's win last year at the same awards.

Come back kids lift Docs' World Cup! Brad and Sammy are big winners in Mexico.

Our locum doc F4 Brad Chambers* and Sammy Bzeu, off Labour ward and Ward 4c, are back from Mexico after winning the World Medical Football Championships.  They were part of the all-conquering GB Medics' Team - and partially sponsored by our former ophthalmology consutant Teifi James.

Fiona Kaye, pictured right, is  proud to be the eldest of three sisters enjoying their careers at CHFT. She's just been promoted to Matron for Operating Services. She hails her colleagues for always rising to the challenges in the NHS and says it's a privilege to care for our patients and their families.

Will Helen's pink jacket be coming out again? Unsung Hero Awards' CHFT launch next Thursday.

This time next week, we'll be in full-on 'pink' mode as CHFT will proudly be supporting the launch of the national Unsung Hero Awards.  Pink is the theme of the awards which are unique in that they celebrate the work of non-clinical colleagues and volunteers in the NHS.

Flour and honey trigger Majax at HRI ....sort of!

   Our ED colleagues at HRI yesterday staged a Majax to test our response to chemical contamination injuries.  Patients who self-presented covered with a white powder (created by flour and honey for the exercise) were put through the decontamination tent by colleagues in head-to-toe protective gear.  read more

The Community Healthcare Division is pioneering a level 5 Apprenticeship Programme for support staff within the Division, which will help create and enhance unregistered roles and support a career structure for our staff who are not registered nurses or AHPs.  read more

Self-drive to surgery!

Thanks to Linthwaite Football Club for this new patient transport to get our younger patients to surgery.  The club has donated an electric car so youngsters in Children's day Surgery Unit can drive themselves to theatres. This distracts them and also helps to reduce their stress levels.  read more

No it's not a simulation - Angela Hope really has retired!  Among those to wave her off was consultant Andy Lockey, pictured third right,  - the man responsible for getting Angela back to CHFT three years ago.  read more

New NMC standards to offer greater flexibility - changes in September

The way we supervise and assess some students is changing. In September new Nursing and Midwifery Councill education standards are being introduced in our Trust.  Here is a brief overview of the changes, which will be followed by more communications over the coming months.  read more
