Bringing people together - Louise Riby's Back to the Floor idea is a winner.

We're having a Back to the Floor style week in September where our Board of Directors will visit different areas across the Trust to find out more about any issues and celebrate the good stuff too!

So if you want them to come to you - read on...

It starts on Monday the 23rd of September -  and will give Board members the chance to get out and about across all our sites and have the chance for face-to-face chat with colleagues about work in their area.

The idea came from Children's Outpatients Sister, Louise Riby who used the Ask Owen button on the intranet to make the suggestion.  It's an idea which worked well in Salford where she used to work.

Louise, pictured, said "There is a presumed divide between directors and frontline staff. I thought it would be a great idea to bring people together so the senior team could experience first-hand some of the things we need to deal with every day.

"I'm sure that as well as being able to share what we're really proud of, we probably encounter some issues that they not be aware of. It would be great for them to have a greater understanding as well as help support us find solutions".

Louise added: "My management team are absolutely fabulous. They're really encouraging and I've never worked in a Trust where I've felt so confident approaching senior management before".

If you'd like to invite a member of our Board to visit your area between Monday 23rd and Friday 27th September, please email our Executive Director, Workforce and Organisational Development, Suzanne Dunkley on

Suzanne, said "I see this as a real opportunity for our Board members with a clinical background to spend time in non clinical areas, whilst non-clinical Board members can be paired with clinical areas.

"It really brings home our Working Together to Get Results approach."
