Beating cholesterol, heart attacks and stroke - CHFT trials new drugs

CHFT is currently taking part in a pioneering trial - to test if an injection could reduce bad cholesterol and deaths from heart attacks and strokes.  The trial - on a voluntary basis - is called Orion-4 and being coordinated by Oxford University. The aim is to investigate how a drug could lower levels of bad cholesterol.

Our LGBTQ+ network has launched a pledge for colleagues who are passionate about inclusion to sign-up to. And Recruitment Assistant Michelle Peter ( pictured in the red top) was the first colleague to officially sign it and get her prized rainbow lanyard.

"We will never forget the kindness" - high praise for ward 8D colleagues from CHFT's Kim

Specialist Substance Misuse Midwife, Kim Walsh wrote to explain how the staff on ward 8d made her grandmother Minnie's 90th birthday a day they'll never forget.   Here's what Kim wrote on behalf of her family about the exceptional care received:  "Firstly on behalf of my family I would say that we cannot thank the ward staff enough.

Trio of our docs win Clinical Teaching Excellence and Development Awards

Dr Alyshea Hodgson (FY1), Dr Camilla Ledgard, (Core Trainee Year 1) and Dr John Dalton, (ST5 Registrar) - scooped a whopping third of the nine awards given by Leeds Institute of Medical Education (LIME).

Community District Nurse Emily Tedder, from the Central Halifax District Nursing Team is full of praise for Staff Nurses Charlotte Ballard and Anne King. They really pulled out the stops to deliver complex care to patients over a weekend, even though it would mean going home later than planned.  read more

7AD net funds at Wimbledon fund raiser

It's not just colleagues who have had fun during Wimbeldon fortnight. The team on the Stroke Ward at CRH carried out their own fund raising drive during the tournament, raising £110 for the unit, with patients getting involved too.  read more

United at The Great Get Together

Our Trust was represented at the Great Get Together in Halifax recently. The now annual event is inspired by Jo Cox who said in her first speech to parliament, "we are far more united and have far more in common than that which divides us".  read more

Huge congrats to Webteam (and honorary comms team member), Assistant Web Developer Sophie Thomas. She and colleague Andrew Pheasey both graduated this summer with first class honours, and have re-joined Heath Informatics permanently to support digital communications.  read more

Are you prepared for EPR downtime? Starts 23.55pm Weds 24th July

We need to switch EPR off for a short time to update our medication catalogue. We're doing it overnight to have the least impact, though colleagues who prescribe and adminster medicines will not be able to use EPR for this activity for around six and a half hours.  read more

West Yorkshire Police - online portal helps tackle crime

West Yorkshire Police have an online reporting portal. It's on our intranet for colleagues to report any intelligence and information around possible criminal activity, as well as other safeguarding matters.   Feedback from West Yorkshire Police has highlighted the importance of the intelligence provided in tackling crime within our area, therefore keeping us all safer.  read more
