CHFT can be celebrating as today we're sitting on top of the country's Trust digitalisation league.  We're above all the other 154 trusts in the digitalhealth.net table and it's a terrific achievement in such a short time, reflecting real hard work and commitment from everyone here.

Massive congrats to Hannah Barnes who was  a winner at the Student Nursing Times of the Year awards when we also had three other finalists.  Gary Miles and Emma Armitage (formerly Melkowski) were also finalists, as was CHFT as a Trust for its work training and supporting our students.

"Friendly giant" Mr DeBono and lovely team party on with our families!

Our team at Yorkshire Fertility (YF) pulled off another successful party and there was nothing but praise and a huge outpouring of affection for all their support in helping people grow their families.  One family are so grateful they've created a special story based on Jack and the Beanstalk for their son.

Welcome to our family, baby Machon! From Janette and Joanne.

Thomas Owen Machon was born on the LDRP at Calderdale 18th April weighing 7lb 3oz. and grandma Janette and Auntie Joanne were the first to visit.  Jo wrote to the Comms team: "Matrons Janette Cockroft (Grandma) and Joanne Machon (Auntie) were on hand and so excited, after Thomas had kept us all waiting for several days.

How Andrea's celebrating International Nurses Day and it's Midwives Day this Sunday too.

It's that time of the year when all Trusts are celebrating their midwives and nurses. Both International Nurses Day and Midwives day are always held in May - the month of  Florence Nightingale's birthday.  We plan to have tea trolley rounds and biccies for nurses and midwives on those days.  read more

Our first Endoscopy evening's a success - and there's still time to apply for a role

There was a fab turnout for our first Endoscopy open event and Manager, Tracy Burland has thanked all her team for making it a success.  More than 50 people came along to the event which was aimed at showcasing the work of department to colleagues and others who may be considering a career change.  read more

"Just do it" says Return to Practice nurse Michelle Edwards.

We're really chuffed to have Michelle Edwards on our wards - 30 years since she started nursing. (pictured then and now)  Michelle, joined a return to practice course with us last September and is currently working as a staff nurse on ward 15 at HRI.  read more

Providing personalised patient care - fab work by SALT colleagues

Our Speech and Language colleagues have been running nasendoscopy clinics for the last 12 months providing swifter and more streamlined care pathways for our patients.  It means some patients can have their investigations by the therapists and avoids the need to be referred back to Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) clinics which could prolong their treatment.  read more

New Acute Coronary Syndrome Pathway - stage one starts Weds May 8.

Colleagues in the Emergency Department, Acute Medicine, Cardiology and Biochemistry have been working together to devise a new pathway for Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) - meaning earlier result analysis and speedier discharges for patients.  read more

Farewell Linda Chapman

Linda Chapman has left the Trust after to a working for the Trust for what would have been 21 years this November.  Linda has taken semi- retirement but is also going to work part time as a home help, get plenty of walking in and spend time with her grandchildren.  read more

Our emergency department's process for reviewing yellow and green incidents has been so successful, Medicine have adopted it across the whole division*.   read more

We’re coming together on 8th May to discuss LGBTQ+ engagement. It’s an inclusive event, so if you identify as LGBTQ+ or are an ally and want to shape the future of the forum, it would be great to see you there.  read more

Tour de Yorkshire - in Halifax this Sunday. Impact for colleagues.

A heads up for CHFT colleagues about the potential impact from the Tour de Yorkshire this Sunday 5th May.  It it scheduled to leave Halifax Piece Hall at 12.35 pm and will tour the town centre including the Savile Park area before heading out via Ovenden Road.  read more
