Here's Day Surgery's Vicky Smith - as she might look at around 13,000 feet on Saturday, April 27.  That's the big day when our Vicky plans to overcome her fear of flying in support of  a project to build a water well in Gambia being led by Stephen Peterson, HRI's Senior Medical Engineering Officer.

   The NMC opened its register for the first qualified Nursing Associates  - and to mark the occasion  our staff were  invited along to the celebration event at the Houses of Parliament.

Digital ECGs in a heartbeat. We've done it in weeks - others take years.

We’ve carried out more than 16,000 digital ECGs since we went live last December.  Cardiologists can now review the results instantly in EPR, and often remotely, which speeds up diagnosis in what is often a crucial time for treatment.

Hello My Name Is... Cristina Mihu.

Our Engagement Support workers are such a vital part of our ward teams, and they really come into their own making special days extra special so all our patients can enjoy them.  Valentine's Day was typical, and our engagement support worker Cristina Mihu was busy fundraising so she can offer her patients little extras. 19's Valentine's Day bake raised £70.  read more

Using Google Translate for written information - new Standard Operating Procedure

Sometimes you might need to quickly have a leaflet translated for someone who can’t read English. Our new standard operating procedure has been prepared to help us be more inclusive to a wider variety of non-English speaking patients and their families. A new Bowel Care Policy for adults age 16 years and above is on the policies and documents library. It has been designed to guide clinicians in managing the safe, effective management of bowel care issues, especially as many patients present complex challenges.  read more

Overgate Hospice Car Boot Sale - Sunday 10 March

Our friends at Overgate are running a car boot sale at Calderdale College. It's £10 per car, which goes the hospice, but stall holders keep any money made from their sales.  read more
