Lisa Green's marathon support for her patient wins Star Award

   Our dietician Lisa Green has collected a Star Award after helping a Halifax man run the London Marathon with a tube in his throat following tumour surgery.    Gary Taylor, an electrical engineer from Halifax, cannot eat or drink so the only way he could complete the 26-mile run was with a backpack containing his liquid food and hydration...

Nappy happy - our thanks to Special Care baby Unit

Liam Christy and his parents came in to thank the Special Care Baby Unit for heping him survive his early days after being born at just 24 weeks - 16 weeks early.  Debbie Lawson-Martin was present at his birth (when she was a young staff nurse) and has maintained a special relationship with the family ever since.

Marigold Cafe opens soon to offer support during bereavement.

The Marigold Café starts 7th Sept at HRI (10.30 a.m. – 12.30 p.m.) and is going to be held on the first Friday of each month, alternating between the hospitals.  This is part of the Trust’s End of Life Care Strategy and is there to support relatives of those who have died.  read more

It's Bake Off time of the year again and here at CHFT we're having another campaign to get colleagues involved.  The Great British Bake Off returns to our television screens on Aug 28 for 10 weeks of broken pastry, soggy bottoms, collapsed Yorkshire puds and tumbling cake tiers.  read more

Thanks to our League of Friends for hospital entrance emergency resus equipment.

   Thanks to our League of Friends' (LoF) supporters, our two hospitals now have extra kit if an emergency arises in our public areas, entrances or in our grounds.  If a person suffers a collapse or cardiac arrest the new inflatable hoists enable us to lift them more safely and easily.  read more

Our display screen equipment policy provides guidance on how to identify, reduce and mitigate health and safety risks related to the use of display screen equipment (DSE), as well as the process to follow for eye tests and spectacles for DSE use, which must be via Boots the Opticians.  read more

The Big Word and Topp Language Solutions provide our interperting and translation services to patients at CHFT. It's important they're made aware if colleagues have any service issues. Recently an interpreter was cancelled at the last moment over a weekend.  read more
