Kate's Crypt care for homeless people scoops top award

Our vascular nurse specialist Kate Humphries, pictured right, was on the winners’ podium at recent health awards for providing care for homeless people with leg ulcers.  Kate, who has been at CHFT for four years, and is our only vascular nurse specialist, collected the Hilda Knowles award with Leeds Teaching Hospital colleague Julie Thackray.

I wouldn't change a thing! Midwife Debbie Williams bows out after 37 years in the NHS

   Debbie Williams clearly remembers really, really wanting crackers after she gave birth on a New Years Eve and her midwife went off to get some for her - and created a lasting impression.  Debbie, who has retired after 33 years with us and 37 years in total in the NHS, said: " It is such an important time in your life and you remember it forever.

A reminder this week of the importance of reading right to the end of any diagnostics report which has been prepared for patient care. You must do this to make sure you don't miss any vital information, such as urgent referrrals or follow-ups.   read more

Well done to our Parkrunners - Celebrating NHS70 on the run.. and free sports tickets.

Well done to Jonathan Bray, Neil and Gill Stanniforth and Gavin Boyd as they completed the 5k parkrun at Greenhead Park last Saturday. All wore blue in celebration of NHS70th birthday on 5 July. As a reminder...time is running out to grab some free sports tickets.  read more

We all play a role in keeping people safe. Having a week of concentrated activity brings people together to learn, share good practice and highlight the importance of safeguarding both here at CHFT and across the local communities. Here at CHFT we'll be working to share awareness of the Herbert Protocol - keeping people with dementia safe and sound.  read more
