Rehab assistant Lisa Gray's care for a lady with dementia and no relatives over the Christmas period has won her the latest Star Award.   Her team - the Elective Orthopaedic Rehabilitation team -  generally have fewer elective patients to see over the Christmas period so they added their support to in-patient therapy team on other wards.

Jo Machon's skydive finally complete after nine attempts

Our Matron for Outpatients, Jo Machon enjoyed a recent charity skydive far more than she imagined she would – and it also ended up with her being part of a winning fundraising team after contributing to an amazing £24k raised.

Tears of laughter.... and tiers on the floor. All the action from Gill and Neil's wedding.

Gill Longbottom and Neil Staniforth married at Holmfirth Church with a reception and evening do in a teepee at The Woodman Inn. They’re both now back at work and Gill is a Clinical Information Manager and Neil is a General Manager both in The Health Informatics Service. They honeymooned in Mexico and have already booked another trip to Venice in June.

 The Stroke Association's ‘Make May Purple’   campaign swept through our wards and the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) had great fun throughout the week with activities for patients, relatives and staff.  read more

Great work by local schools to raise money for the Children's Diabetes Team

Patient advocate Jo Kitchen got in touch to tell CHFT Weekly about a great piece of fundraising by the Huddersfield Trust School. The childrens diabetes team have been working closely with the school by running an education session.  read more

Bite sized learning: Don't be under pressure when hiring mattresses

Our pressure mattresses help us care for patients with pressure ulcers, or those at risk of developing them. They are in high demand across our Trust and if there is a delay in patients getting the equipment they need, it could potentially result in patient harm.  Jenni Garlick and David Berry from our tissue viability team co-ordinate the equipment.  read more

We've stopped sending duplicate letters to patients

From next Monday,  patients attending outpatient clinics will be able to register to access their records online through a patient portal called Your EPR.   In preparation for this, and to help us save costs, we have stopped sending patients a paper copy of the GP letter following their outpatient attendance, which we used to do for some patients.  read more

Ward 3 was the first ward to complete their appraisals - is yours booked in?

Special bake-off. Hadfields' providing buns for all our volunteers.

Amost 300 people give their time for free at CHFT working as volunteers across our sites. So next week's Volunteer Week is a great opportunity for us to say a huge thank you. And the lovely team at Hadfields' Bakery have come up trumps by providing a scrummy bun for each volunteer.  read more

Huddersfield's parkrun on June 9 for the NHS 70th - sign up to run, walk or volunteer

The NHS70 birthday celebrations and events are in full swing, and almost 300 parkruns across the UK will take on an NHS theme on Saturday 9th June to celebrate this special birthday. And you could be joining the crowds by walking, jogging, running or even volunteering on the day.  read more
