Matron Melling's march... and an appeal for the weekend

Our surgical matron Karen Melling wasn't going to defeated by the Beast.   She set off on foot  but had to turn back due to the poor weather. After a brew she got back out there to walk to work for her noon shift.  She said: "  We live on top of a hill overlooking a valley in Halifax.

The Beast won't beat us: Louis and Jaimie's stories

Our surgery's associate director of nursing Jo Middleton's nephew Louis - a volunteer on the Prevention Of Delirium programme - came in from a luxury snow day to support patients with dementia on MAU.    And a big shout out to Local Care Direct colleague Jaimie Parrott who on Wednesday was making a very important delivery to HRI (pictured).

For the love of her job. Saima Qasim nearly crashed but made it through the snow.. from Bolton

Our appointments and transport coordinator Saima Qasim set off at 6am to ensure she was at her desk and helping our patients despite the blizzards.  The "Beast from the East" winter storm couldn't keep her away as she loves working here so much.  Saima, lives in Bolton and it usually takes her 45 minutes each way.

It's the 11th National Apprenticeship Week (NAW 2018) all next week from Monday March 5 to Friday March 9 2018.  During the week, employers and apprentices from across England will come together to celebrate the success of apprenticeships whilst encouraging even more people to choose apprenticeships as a pathway to a great career.  read more

Just tell them your story - you're amazing: CQC roadshows begin.

Our CEO Owen Williams teamed up with Quality Directorate's Juliette Cosgrove to host yesterday's very snow-hit CQC roadshow.  The event at the HRI Learning Centre was one of a series we have planned to reassure and explain more about what the upcoming visits are all about, as they'll be different to the last inspection.  read more

 When he's not at CHFT paediatrician and clinical EPR lead Alistair Morris is up in the hills of the Calder Valley on call-outs with the Mountain Rescue (MR) Team.  And that's where his idea for saving money came from.  Their MR vehicles are equipped with oxygen canisters.  read more

Bless the NHS on its 70th Birthday.

Chaplain George Spencer is a member of the Trust's coordinating committee for the upcoming NHS 70th birthday celebrations on July 5.  Lots is planned including two "70-parties" in both our main hospital entrances and in some community setttings on the day itself, and we want all staff to join in on this historic day for us all.  read more
