Fake wounds so good one doc ran to help!

We staged our first TaRTs  (Trauma and Resuscitation Team) day which was a huge success thanks to some amazing medical make-up!  Nurses from our Emergency Teams attended the sessions in the SIM-ulation suite at HRI to test their responses to patients from three different scenarios.

CQC coming back in April - we've put lots in place since they last came

The CQC will be back with us for three days from Tuesday, April 3, it was confirmed this week. Since their last visit in March 2016 colleagues have been working extensively on an improvement programme based on their recommendations to build on our strengths and work on areas which could be better.

Bite Sized Learning - preventing the spread of Clostridium difficile

The week we're highlighting how following our infection prevention guidelines could have helped keep patients safe from Clostridium difficile (C-diff).   A patient was admitted with abdominal pain and diarrhoea and placed into a four bedded bay.  It was four days before a stool sample was taken with a postive result of C-diff.  read more

CQC roadshows start Tuesday - everyone welcome

Further to Owen's message this week about the CQC well-led inspection taking place between Tuesday 3rd and Thursday 5 April - we now have a number of roadshows planned in for colleagues.      Each will last an hour - feel free to come along for an update, ask your questions, or raise concerns. Supporting people who want to quit smoking

Although the number of people who smoke is falling, around 18% of adults do and 207,000 children in the UK start smoking each year.  In  the Yorks and Humber region 51  children start every day.  read more

February payslips available now and how to access ESR from home

Colleagues can access ESR from home - whether to view their payslips (February available now), amend their personal information or do mandatory training (time can be claimed back). Patient Information Leaflets - email or download them for patients to save printing costs

To avoid excessive printing costs of patient information leaflets, we produce A4 versions which can be emailed to patients and their family, or downloaded. They're also viewable on smartphones.   We still offer the paper leaflets as we appreciate it's a matter of choice and some people don't have access to technology.  read more

Access to Interpreting and British Sign Language services for patients

It's been almost a year since The Big Word started working with us providing interpreting and translation services for our patients. Alongside Topp Language Solutions (our interpreter for deaf patients), we've provided support for more than 4100 patients since last April.  read more

Laptop Trend anti-virus upgrade - final call - sessions end next week

A quick reminder, if you've still not booked in your laptop to have your anti-virus software please do so ASAP as there are no more sessions after next Wednesday. Installing the Trend software means CHFT has a strong defence against any cyber security threats.  read more
