Ward 7b's Wedding Planners are our first Star Award winners in 2018

7b's superstars turned into Wedding R Us when a long-stay patient and her partner wanted to tie the knot.  One member of staff loaned a dress and others went shopping to The Range after work to ensure they could transform the dayroom and make it a little bit special for the event.

After 35 years in a "proper job" it's Louise Taylor's farewell do

Thirty five years after starting as a trainee at Halifax, Matron Louise Taylor retired....  but was back two days later.  Colleagues incuding Brendan Brown, Lindsay Rudge, Ashwin Verma and Chris Lord-Tyrer queued up to pay tribute to her in the HRI Boardroom where Louise fought back the tears.

Happy 92nd Margaret, from all on Ward 19

Margaret Morris celebrated her 92nd birthday on Monday in the day room of Ward 19.  The support workers organised a small tea party with birthday cake for her and she had a smile on her face all the way through - despite her not liking a "big fuss".

CHFT backing Cervical Cancer Prevention Week

Our hospitals  - alongside a host of celebrities - have been backing this year's Cervical Cancer Prevention Week.  We have stalls in both our entrances offering advice and support through until Sunday to ensure more women know how they can reduce their risk of cervical cancer.  read more

Cuba calling.. with padded shorts!

Teresa Howarth is notching up several personal firsts on a charity effort for  Action for Stammering Children.  Our speech and language therapist is saddling up to ride across Cuba this Easter for the charity which funds residential courses for children who stammer as well as doing  lots of other great stuff.  Here's her fundraising page.  read more

All mellow in yellow. New kit for volunteers from LoFriends

The Huddersfield League of Friends (LoF) very kindly offered to pay for new volunteers uniforms and we took the opportunity for a change of colour.  The new bright yellow makes our "Supporters with a Smile" stand out and are totally different to any other colour in the Trust.  read more

Jacqui Howarth's Celebrating 70 years of the NHS

Jacqui Howarth today sends her best wishes for the NHS 70th birthday this year. July 5 is the special day but CHFT is celebrating our wonderful organisation throughout 2018.  Jacqui - from surgery division - saw our first celebration screensaver featuring our chairman Andrew Haigh and took up the invitation to join in herself.  read more

Moving and Handling training level 2 - helping colleagues at this busy time

Colleagues who have not yet had their mandatory level 2 face-to-face training for manual handling can complete level 1 by e-learning as an interim measure.  We appreciate that current pressures mean attending face-to-face training is difficult, though we do need assurance that colleagues have a basic level of understanding of the subject.  read more

New intranet now live - a huge thank you to all involved

Essential IT work to help with ESR access - starts next Wednesday night

To improve the experience for colleagues loading and using ESR, we need to do some work in the background on all Trust computers.  The update we need to make can only happen when computers are switched on. We will do this between midnight next Wednesday 31 January and 6am Thursday 1 February.  read more
