It had to be heard to be believed...... and you can too thanks to a CHFT Weekly video special.  At 2.30 pm yesterday, as they have done twice a day this week, colleagues came together and assumed their positions for their first ever Ward 7 - the Greenlea chemotherapy unit.

I feel Kate's with me. Our trainee nurse associates learn about Hello My Name Is

We were immensely proud to welcome Chris Pointon - on a break to promote Hello My Name Is -  to talk to our trainee nurse associates yesterday and he spoke so movingly there were tears.   The husband of Dr Kate Granger delivered a passionate talk to them as part of his global tour for the campaign at a session at the Learning Centre at HRI.

Merry midwives, sparkly Santa bottles and supporting the homeless - fab Xmas Charity effort by CHFT

   As ever, the run-up to Christmas has been a cracker here at CHFT - with the highlights being colleagues' efforts for charity. Here's a round-up of some of them....     1 Our teams from the pre-op assessment units at both hospitals raised around £80 with a Christmas jumper day and stall for Macmillan, pictured top right.

Farewell Elaine Miller - from all on ward 12

Sister Elaine Miller has retired after 12 years on Ward 12 and there was a huge turnout to say bye bye.  Before Ward 12 she worked in admin in X-ray and previously at Pinderfields.  She received lots of Pandora jewellery and flowers and there was a tremendous buffet in the staff room.  She said she would miss "everything" about her job.

Ickle CHFT birth story..but who's baby is he?

   He's Josiah John Lush, 9lbs 2oz, arrived two weeks past his due date... and just in time for Christmas.  And he's the new baby son of Ruth Lush and hubbie, Dan, and a brother for their daughter Phoebe.  Ruth, works in Acre House as a Project Manager for THIS, just along the corridor from CHFT Weekly HQ.  read more

Turkey and tunes top the Xmas menu at CRH

Diners at Calderdale Royal enjoyed tunes with their turkey with the return of the Calderdale OAPs' orchestra.  As ever Judith McLean - widow of our former chairman Gordon McLean and one of our volunteers at CRH - conducted them to a rousing performance to spread Christmas cheer around Ingleton Falls.  read more

Supporting the National Elf Service - pods for loan!

Our prevention of delirium co-ordinator Kirsty Jowett and her engagement support workers - Beth Ashworth, Sarah Duke, Kate Haley, Amy Walton and Farrah Hussain recently organised an event to support the Alzheimer’s Society 'National Elf day' when they also had a RemPod* on display in the main entrance at HRI.  read more

We know our switchboard has moved on since the old PO days.... but there are still times when it gets very, very busy.  At these times, it would help our switchboard teams if colleagues can, where possible, contact wards and departments directly.  read more

Confidential waste contractor - no extra collections over the holiday and change of contractor

Our confidential waste contractor is changing from 1st January 2018. The confidential waste post boxes will be rebranded after then by our new contractor U-Shred. There is no change to the schedule of collections, or how and where colleagues dispose of confidential waste.  read more

ESR - final reminder about the Christmas shutdown and what it means

      Colleagues with December payroll queries have until tomorrow (Friday 22 December) to discuss them with payroll.     The ESR system will be completely shut down on Wednesday 27 December until the New Year.  read more
