Record-breaking Rachael races through theatres

Staff nurse Rachael Brook in HRI theatres is setting the pace this year - running out of her first vaccine stocks after just an hour.  She's already  immunised 70 colleagues -  more than she did during the  whole of last year's 'flu campaign.

Working together means fab new service for eye patients

Our consultant ophthalmologist Indra Dias snipped the ribbon at the opening of our newly-expanded department for patients with medical eye conditions -  including macular degeneration - at Acre Mills.

He's Going Sober in October. Back Bushers' booze-free efforts for Macmillan

Going Sober in October is Macmillan's current campaign to help and support people and families affected by cancer. Their website features some of the 75,000 non-drinking Soberheroes  from all over the country who have signed up to ditch the drink for an entire month.    Surgery's general managerJason Bushby is one of them.

Appraisals Season has just three weeks to go - who's doing best?

October sees the final month of  our Appraisals Season!  Well done to all those colleagues and appraisers who have received and delivered appraisals across the organisation.  Our current compliance rate is 65%, a little off for where we should be at this point in the season.  read more

Physician Associates start work with us.

Monday  was an exciting day for the Trust.  Ten Physician Associates (PAs) joined the team. Seven will be based in Medicine and three will be working in Surgery.  PAs are healthcare professionals with a generalist medical education who work alongside the clinical teams and play an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team.  read more

First ultra-sound for rheumatology at the Trust

We have taken delivery of our first ultrasound for rheumatology.  It was pioneered in Leeds  and we are happy that we are joining others in West Yorkshire to acquire a machine.  Ultrasound has been used in rheumatology for diagnosis and monitoring treatment of inflammatory arthritis.  read more

Staff Survey 2017 - starts next week

The big annual, national survey amongst NHS staff swings into action next week.  It's different this year as instead of a random sample  - everyone at CHFT will get the chance to have their say.  read more

Charity roundup: Macmillan Coffee morning and York Marathon for Overgate Hospice

Two more events for Macmillan Coffee morning.  1 Estates flocked to Helen Boothroyd's display of deliciousness and she  raised £132. She said: " Everyone got behind it and made it a great success.  read more

NHS70 Birthday. Party ideas for July 5 2018 wanted.

On July 5 next year the NHS celebrates its 70th birthday.  It's a momentous day in our history and we want to make a big bash of it throughout next year and especially on the day itself.  So if you've any ideas, send them into chft@cht.nhs.uk as we're in the early stages of planning and all ideas are very welcome.  read more

THIS Awards - open for nominations now

Our colleagues at Health Informatics Service have this week opened the nominations window for their colleague awards.  Their ceremony  will be held on  the afternoon of December 15th at the John Smith Stadium, Huddersfield. So if you've had great service or support from an individual or a team then give them a shout out.  read more

Big Brief - Tuesday 10 October
