#AlwaysAsk. New video launches maternity campaign

Our maternity teams are backing a new national campaign to provide extra support to mums and their families.

#AlwaysAsk is backed by leading charity Tommy’s and is actively encouraging mums-to-be not to be afraid to talk to maternity staff – doctors as well as midwives - about anything they may have on their minds.

It has resulted from national feedback where mums have said they did not feel they could talk to staff for whatever reason. It may be staff appeared to them too busy to be disrupted, or they felt their query too simple or even a "silly" one.

Our Consultant midwife Sue Townend has just completed a short video explaining more about the campaign and what it means for CHFT maternity colleagues.   We also have a series of pledge cards to promote the campaign showing staff’s backing for it.

Sue, says: “This campaign is very simple and could be adopted in all areas of the Trust. Good communications is at the heart of good care and we should all be striving to achieve that for all our patients so they leave us having had the very best of experiences.”
