Our maternity teams are backing a new national campaign to provide extra support to mums and their families.  #AlwaysAsk is backed by leading charity Tommy’s and is actively encouraging mums-to-be not to be afraid to talk to maternity staff – doctors as well as midwives - about anything they may have on their minds.

Karl in action

Physio Karl's Italian job and why Mo's better than Usain.

Karl Gray our lead clinical physio represented Great Britain at the World Mountain Running Championships in Premana, Italy.   He was the second British runner to complete the course and .finished 32nd in the 20-mile mountain race slog.  ‘I felt really proud and privileged to represent my country at such a fantastic event.

Honouring nurse Hilary's wishes. A moving story for Organ Donor Week

Nurses and patients across West Yorkshire went into mourning following the tragic death of Hilary Shoesmith.  The 58-year-old nurse died in Calderdale Royal Hospital after she suffered a brain aneurysm during a Sunday meal out in January this year.

Virtual clinics: a first for CHFT's Yorkshire Fertility

Yorkshire Fertility is making it easier for couples to access their services through a new "virtual" consultation.  Instead of  travelling through traffic and parking and to use less time our patients can now choose to access our clinicians over the internet.  It uses a Cisco Jabber system which is a highly secure, clear and reliable communication.

Welcome to our September new recruits

This week has been a key week for our nurse  and midwifery recruitment.  We welcomed around 35 newly-qualifiied or new-to-Trust colleagues ready to join our teams on our wards and departments and in community.  The induction was the first which will be held monthly this month, October and November and every three months in 2018.  read more

The infection control nursed have been visiting the wards and departments at CRH this week, and are at the community bases on Thursday, and HRI next week.There are displays in HRI main entrance and CRH outside the restaurant.  read more

Big Brief next Tuesday, September 12th

Next Tuesday's Big Brief takes place at the later time of 11.30am. The 30 minute session will be held in the Boardroom at HRI and the Lecture Theatre at CRH. Colleagues will get the usual CHFT performance updates as well as news from divisions such as the improvements in frailty in Medical, F&SS's progress on appraisals and news of a new staff engagement group in Community.   read more
