Nurse Associates enjoy training at CHFT

   Our Trust is proud to be  taking part in one of the pilot sites for the new Nurse Associates roles.  This was a collaborative bid with our partners in the CCGs at North Kirklees, Greater Huddersfield and Wakefield to test out the new role and were delighted to emerge as one of HEE’s 24 sites nationally.

64 days without a fall. Celebrations on Ward 5d as they set their sights on 100!

Ward 5d at CRH recently hit the milestone of 50 days without a fall – and have received the first Rhodium Certificate at CHFT from the NHS Improvement Academy - presented by Deputy Medical Director Cornelle Parker. Now colleagues there are all thinking ahead to reaching the 100 day mark.

Bernie's 115 mph zip wire challenge for Overgate

Bernie Hepper is safely back in Acre House after a daring charity  challenge  suspended high over a quarry in Wales.  She took part in the  Velocity Zip Wire over the Penrhyn Quarry in Bethesda North Wales.  Her target funding raising was £125 and with family and friends sponsorship  they smashed it and raised £211.

House swap - new homes for Gynaecology and Antenatal out-patient service and Pre-Operative Assessments

Thanks to lots of hard work - and the patience of colleagues - our newly refurbished Women's Health unit is up and running at HRI. The Pre-operative Assessment Service has also relocated to a stand-alone unit at HRI.  The works were kicked-off when the new Ambulatory Unit moved into Cedarwood.

Find our missing syringe drivers! Amnesty called.

A message from our Consultant in Palliative Care, Dr Mary Kiely     We need colleagues' help to track down some missing syringe drivers and  we are starting an amnesty to encourage staff to return them.  The McKinley T34 syringe driver  is a vital part of ensuring  symptom control for patients at the end of life.  read more

Bite sized learning - NG tube training is important for safe care of patients

It's important to make sure you've completed the competency based training and assessment for the insertion and ongoing care of nasogastric (NG) feeding tubes. Misplacing the tube can cause serious harm to patients as outlined in a recent Patient Safety Alert nationwide. So please read and share this week's learning.       read more

ESR is having a face lift soon - with a new look homepage

Colleagues will see a new icon for ESR on their desktops from 1 September, linking to a brand spanking new portal home page too. The new look means all your personal information, such as pay and benefits, as well as e-learning will be accessed from a single and more modern homepage.     Your log in information will not change.  read more

Genomic Conference - Sept 27 2017

The Yorkshire and Humber NHS Genomic Medicine Centre are working with all acute trusts (including ours) in the Yorkshire and Humber region to deliver the 100 000 Genomes Project, a national project to provide whole genome sequencing to patients with rare diseases and cancer.  read more
