Cockerpoo's visit makes Rita Fletcher a Star Award winner

All bow-wow down to Ward 19's healthcare assistant Rita Fletcher who reunited a patient and his pooch and has scooped our latest Star Award.  Rita tracked down Rufus the cockerpoo, collected him from the centre where he was being looked after in Meltham and reunited him with his owner - and the tears flowed.

At HRI we’ve had a National Citizen Service (NCS) group of 14, 15/16 year old teens here for one week completing a Community Initiative Project over their summer break.  In their free time, the group made their project proposal to Kirsty Jowett our Prevention of Delirium Co-Ordinator.

Race night in memory of Jenna

Sister Amy Whitehead and HCA Rachael Chesney are organising a charity race night in memory of  colleague Jenna Greenwood (pictured|).  Jenna, 31,  a healthcare assistant, worked with them on Ward 1 and the Ambulatory Assessment Unit at HRI for eight years. She was a popular member of the team who tragically died a few months ago.

Firefighters preventing falls with help from Claire Fallon.

One of our Clinical Lead Physiotherapist, Support and Independence Team members Claire Fallon delivered training on falls prevention to fire crews at Todmorden and Halifax.  Community Therapy Services and firefighters are now joining forces to prevent falls in the home.  read more

Eye department's stunning new kids' room.

Our children's waiting area in ophthalmology at CRH is so popular they don't want to watch DVDs anymore - they're having such a good time playing.  And you can see why after a fab makeover.!  Staff raised money for the transformation and the wall and window décor has been kindly donated by Signs by Design.  read more

Information Governance eLearning changes

The Information Governance course has been replaced with a course called Data Security Awareness – level 1. Although the name of the course has changed, colleagues will still see it in their competency pane as Information Governance.  read more

Bite-sized learning - our moving and handling guidelines

This week we focus on the importance of our Moving and Handling guidance after a colleague was injured moving a trauma table.  Following the TILE risk assessment is an important part of this and is also covered along with lots more information in our mandatory eLearning module.  read more

Patient Access Policy updated - important points for colleagues to note

The Trust Patient Access Policy has been updated to reflect local and national policy for planned care.  It is important that all colleagues (whether clinical or non-clinical) involved in the planned care pathway are aware of the policy and take time to familiarise themselves with the content.  read more

CHFT Events

A629 at Salterhebble: works start next week for 52 weeks

Roadworks begin next Monday 14 August on the A629 between the water treatment plant at Salterhebble up the road and past the hospital turn-off. The work will be carried out in various stages and the council have said that they will ensure there is clear signage throughout.  read more

Essential maintenance to our email system this Sunday 13 August

Our email system will be unavailable between 9.30 and 11.30am this Sunday.  It is part of our ongoing service improvement programme and we need to update the current email hardware platform. This is essential to provide continued resilience to support the email services.  read more

Training courses: EPR dates for August and Appraisal Training
