Wed on Ward 17. Staff help teenage sweethearts to marry 67 years after they first met

Ward 17 was the setting for the wedding of former HRI nurse Christine Crabtree and Gordon Howell - 67 years after they first met!  Staff made hasty bunting from post-its and arranged a buffet.  A registrar  was called to lead  the ceremony watched by the couple's friends and staff yesterday followed by a blessing by our chaplain George Spencer.

"Fearless" registrars crush consultants in 10-wicket win in charity cricket match

A  charity cricket match earlier this month between  consultants and registrars from across Yorkshire raised £1,050 for St Gemma’s Hospice.  The registrars gained a massive victory by 10 wickets on the day! For all the stats see the  full match report below.

From cadet to an SCBU nurse in 39 years, and now Alison Massey is retiring.  Back in 1978 to 1980 Alison was a nurse cadet in Halifax but suddenly had a career change when she went to Careers Advice.

You could be following in the steps of our deputy director of nursing Lindsay Rudge - a  Celebrating Success finalist back in 2011.  Lindsay, then senior nurse, was nominated  for Leader of the Year  for her work heading our Productive Ward campaign and she was runner-up that year.

   Estates are winners for the third time in a row at the Constructing Excellence Awards for Yorks and Humber.  This year they beat Leeds City Council, Sheffield University and Coventry University to win Client of the Year after our partners Interserve nominated us.  read more

There will be a small change to your ESR home page from next Tuesday 1 August.    Instead of seeing two options to choose from on your home page: 372 e-Learning User and 372 Employee Self Service, you will only see 372 Employee Self Service.  read more

Monopoly-style stand offers advice on crime, fire prevention and security.

CHFT colleagues and our partners turned Huddersfield main entrance into a crime, fire prevention and security Monopoly board  promoting a proactive security and safety culture amongst colleagues, visitors and patients.    First stop was the West Yorkshire Fire stand which was supported by our own Keith Rawnsley.  read more

Food menus and Tasty Tuesdays. Masterclass in homemade dips

Next week’s food menus include Steak & potato pie, Beef Lasagne, Chicken Katsu Curry and Stuffed pepers.  Also...Our next event at CRH using home grown food for ideas and inspiration takes place next Tuesday 1 August.  The team will be outside the learning centre between 12 midday and 2pm.  read more

Better Lives at No 42.

A new social worker walk-in service has opened called Better Lives at Number 42.  It’s on Market Street in Halifax, opposite Tesco - and it's available for everyone in Calderdale for support.  Better Lives is a base for a team of social workers providing accessible, face-to-face advice, information and support to adults in Calderdale.  read more
