Reshaping and improving cardiology, respiratory and elderly care.

   As a Trust we  are looking at how we can make changes to cardiology, respiratory and elderly care services to improve the care we give our patients.  We give good care, but we know we can give better  care to patients and want to do this as soon as possible.

Guests at grand opening

Snip, snip hooray - new ambulatory unit opens at HRI

It's now open and the ribbon was snipped. Yet as everyone in the NHS knows, projects like this take time, teamwork, dedication to completion and energy.  Opening it yesterday, our CEO  Owen Williams, said: " It shows we are good at adapting to change. This shows we are good at generating ideas and the unit is making a difference to our patients already.

Hop-along Heidi hits heights at Uni

CHFT Comms team is celebrating this week as last year's  placement student Heidi Hawkins smashed a first class degree in Business Management - despite spending most of the year with a broken leg!  Heidi sustained a tumble (!) on  the first day of her holiday in Bulgaria last September. She was in hospital with two breaks in her leg and underwent surgery.  read more

Sickness rate reduction thanks to new approach.

A refreshed approach to supporting the health and wellbeing of colleagues has resulted in an improvement in attendance at work and a reduction in our sickness absence rates.  Our sickness percentage has fallen from 4.7% in April 2017 to 3.63 % last month, short-term sickness has reduced from 1.42% to 1.15% and long-term reduced from 3.30% and 2.48%.  read more

Dom Carroll's 95-mile run for SANDS month

Registrar Dominic Carroll will be taking on the West Highland Way Race in aid of SANDS awareness month on Saturday.  The 95-mile route which starts in Milngavie and ends in Fort William and includes a 14,000ft ascent  SANDS are the  Stillbirth And Neonatal Death charity which supports anyone effected by the death of a baby.  read more

Thank you Bottomleys

It’s hard not to feel inspired by Paul and Jane Bottomley* and what they have achieved over the past five years.  The kind-hearted couple from Sowerby have raised more than £40,000 in that time for our Macmillan Unit at CRH.  It’s been a personal mission for the pair, which began when in February 2012, Jane, 48, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.  read more

   Enhanced Care Team Training for all Ward Managers and band 6 Ward Sisters  This evidence-based service offers a unique and effective approach to caring for our most vulnerable patients. The new service is to be introduced here  on Monday 3rd July 2017. All ward managers and band 6s will be required to attend a drop in session.  read more
