Star Award for HCA Viv Rowan - "truly amazing and doesn't know it."

Colleagues flocked to the kitchen on ward 21 at HRI to watch as ‘gob-smacked’ healthcare assistant Vivienne Rowan accepted her award from  our CEO Owen Williams on a surprise presentation.  Nurse Manager Amanda Waring nominated Viv for the Star Award. She said: " Viv goes above and beyond when delivering patient care.

Colleagues in Trust HQ said congrats with flowers to mark Jo Middleton completing a senior NHS leadership programme.  Jo, associate director of nursing in surgery, has completed the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Masters programme through the NHS Leadership Academy.

Alison's 'grand' efforts for Sarcoma UK

Our CRH neonatal sister Alison Massey rocked-and rolled herself through a recent half-marathon in Liverpool - just two years after taking up running.  Thanks to the running she has shed 2.5 stones as can be seen in this before and after photo.

Good run up....  and a strong appeal..... Syed Bokhari's looking in peak form ahead of a charity cricket match next month where he'll be swappingscrubs for whites.  The match is between consultants and registrars  from across Yorkshire next month and in the home of Yorkshire cricket, Headingley, in Leeds.  read more

Great Big Walk..creating an appetite for The Big Lunch

The Big Lunch has been doing something different this year in the run up to Big Lunch day this Sunday 18th June. On Monday May 29th, ten walkers set out on The Great Big Walk - and two of them visited CRH to see the work that has been happening in the wellbeing garden there.  read more

Will there be medals in Malaga for Cath Whitworth

Catherine Whitworth, a neonatal nurse at Calderdale Royal Hospital, will be once again competing in the World Transplant Games, this time in Malaga, Spain, which begin next week.  Catherine, who had a liver transplant in April 1999, heard about the games after someone mentioned it to her during her recovery.  read more

Welcome to our new intake

New nurses starting Sept

We've recently staged a Welcome to 27 of our new nurse recruits starting September at CHFT.  They are currently 3rd Year university students from mainly Huddersfield Uni but also other universities from across the north.  They will be in post from September in medical, surgical and critical care wards right across the Trust.  read more
