Sheer passion and dedication to caring for their patients has carried our endoscopy teams through after their darkest hour earlier this year.  A devastating fire at CRH caused by an electrical fault could have brought the  service to its knees and even closed it, such was the impact!  But when the going gets tough….

Health care assistant Laura Sommerford went straight from the nightshift in A&E at CRH on Monday morning down to watch  her beloved Town get promotion.  CHFT Weekly was lucky to talk to her yesterday morning as her voice had nearly gone totally.  When the final penalty went in there was only one thing for it. She burst into tears.

Mega May for Karen Barnett raising £650 for charities

Our Director of Operations for Community Karen Barnett has completed two huge challenges to raise money for various charities.   On 13th May she walked the 26.2miles London Marathon route as part of the London Moonwalk challenge. This was a large event supporting an organisation “Walk the Walk” which is a grant making charity uniting against breast cancer.

Mr Harney's retirement.

Surgeon John Harney has retired after 22 years with us.  He started his medical career in Ireland and also worked in America for a time before continuing in the UK.  He has extensive expertise in the sciences.  He has been here for the past 22 years as Consultant Urological Surgeon being a key member across both hospitals.  read more

Sing It! Stressbusting through song!

Introducing EPR might have been stressful... yet the perfect antidote is SINGING, reckon three colleagues at CHFT.  Singing reduces stress, boosts immunity is good for your heart and lungs, and is great fun.  Helen Harris, Mary Kiely and Sarah Gurney are all members of The Accord Singers, a small, mixed voice choir.  read more

A reminder about our mandatory Fire Training for this year

This year colleagues must read a Fire Safety Handbook - available only via their ESR account - to make sure their mandatory fire training is up-to-date.     It will show in the Competence Requirements panel on the home page around 12 months after the last training was completed. It is called CHFT Fire Safety 2017 and should take around 15-20 minutes to read.  read more

Halifax firemen car-wash in aid of Manchester victims

Our emergency colleagues at Halifax and IIlingworth red watch fire and rescue are doing car wash at Halifax Fire Station, at King Cross,  this Saturday on June 3rd  between 1430-1700.  All proceeds going to Manchester victims and families.  read more
