Stunned Andrea Thornton feared the worst when CEO Owen Williams turned up in the General Office.  She laughed “Is that my P45?” then was all-smiles and very relieved when she received her Star Award certificate and vouchers.

Lovely lemon drizzle, a s-poo-nge cake and all the truly scrumptious highlights from Nurses' Day 2017

A fab lemon drizzle cake scooped top prize at HRI's Bake Off and there was a stool-pendous offering  from staff on Ward 7B at  the CRH event!  Cakes of all shapes and colours took centre stage - along with CHFT nursing colleagues - last Friday for a day of celebration for Nurses' Day 2017.

Tears - and tea at the Waldorf - as Diane Catlow bows out after 22 years.

A posh trip to London including afternoon tea at the Waldorf Hotel and a Shard experience were among the gifts presented to Diane Catlow at her retirement from community.  She's been caring in Calderdale for 22 years after joining our Trust from St James's Leeds where she was a ward sister.

The last EPR stand-up was held this morning and the entire EPR Programme Team celebrated on the lawn at Command HQ - Acre House.  Together, the team, made of CHFT colleagues, THIS and Cerner have steered CHFT into the new era of EPR.

THIS Raises £500 for charity

The Health Informatics Service, who have been raising money for a number of years through dress down days each month, raised £500 this year which has been donated to the MacMillan Cancer Unit.  The charity which is chosen by THIS staff, contribute £1 each month for dress down Friday which is the last Friday of the month.  read more

Watch Janet Youd delivering a plea by poem to the RCN Congress

Our Janet Youd addressed the RCN Congress in Liverpool this week – and in verse too -  to  call for better emergency care for people with mental health problems.  Her poem is written through the eyes of a patient with mental health problems having  been brought in by the police and having to wait in an A&E.  read more

CHFT Events

Ongoing works for Women's Health Unit.

We are creating a new Women’s Health Unit at HRI.   The Pre-Operative Assessment corridor at HRI has been narrowed so the work can be carried out. Unless there is an emergency we’re asking colleagues not to use the corridor for access, unless it is to get to pre-op assessment or for emergency transfers.  read more

Service Desk hours back to normal next week

Just a reminder that next week starting Monday 22 May our Health Informatics Service Desk hours will revert back to normal after being extended for EPR.  The team will be on hand Monday to Friday between 8am to 6pm.  Outside of these times, the usual THIS on-call process will be in place for critical issues.   read more

Noiseless workshops - your contribution could help in our toolkit design

Our research team have been investigating noise at night in our hospitals, with the aim of improving creating a toolkit for us and other NHS trusts to help improve the experience for patients.  And to make it work they're looking for healthcare professionals and people who have been patients who are willing to take part in two workshops.  read more
