Hail the Hoole. Julie is Cancer Research Nurse of the Year

Our lead cancer nurse Julie Hoole has collected a top award at the RCNi (innovation) awards in London for her research work supporting patients with head and neck cancers.     She collected her award from GMB presenter Kate Garraway on stage at the Park Plaza, Westminster.

Mary Berry won the Bake Off on International Day of the Midwife last Friday.  As if!!  Our deputy head of midwifery Gail Wright baked MezBez's chocolate reflection cake recipe and scooped first prize in a blind tasting.  read more

Pay increase - arriving in May's pay.

The annual pay award is administered nationally by IBM, who provide the ESR service to the NHS.   They will be putting the pay rise through in May, when all eligible employees will be given the 1%, including backdating to April.   read more

It's Dementia Awareness Week next week

Two temporary memory trees are being installed to mark Dementia Awareness Week here next week.  They offer people the opportunity to hang a ribbon and write a message should they wish as a living memory. This may be for someone living with Dementia, or a person who has died when they had it. The trees will be in our main entrances.  read more

Engie's Gerry retires after 36 years with the NHS.

Maintenance Technician Gerry Foster retired from Engie (Estates) at CRH last month after 36 years with the NHS.  Gerry started work with the Calderdale Area Health Authority in July 1980 as a driver / labourer. Amongst his roles with the Trust Gerry was a shift boiler man which was located in Block S which now houses the Estates Workshop.  read more

Remedial work on trees at HRI next week

From Monday to Friday next week – Nurture Landscapes will be at HRI carrying out essential remedial work on some of the trees around the site.  This is necessary to keep the trees in a safe and healthy condition.  Nurture Landscapes have said there will be no access or route closures required for the duration of the work.  read more
