Go Jo. Dent's doing the London Marathon and praying her pelvic floor holds out!!!

Consultant oncologist Jo Dent has six labradors, her mum's dodgy knee and fab family genes to thank for getting her to the start of this year's London Marathon on Sunday.  Jo has been training for six months solid (four or five times a week)  in all weathers  and has her sights set on beating stoma nurse Paula Pickersgill who ran it last year - by a minute.

Very FOCUS-sed! Top effort of stroke drug trial

   Our reputation for research and development has been boosted with an excellent contribution to a stroke drug trial.  Our stroke team started recruiting  patients to the FOCUS trial in February 2013, led by Dr Pratap Rana (pictured middle).  Co-ordinated by the research nurses, with the help of ward and pharmacy staff, 81 patients have been recruited.

Our Zoe Allen's a star for Macmillan film

Macmillan have filmed our Zoe Allen for their new, short three minute clip about her work with cancer patients and their families. In it she talks about her work specialising in supporting patients with lung cancer.

It's important you don't share your password or Tap and Go card

If you share your passwords or Tap and Go ID with colleagues and they use it to make entries against patient records, it means those entries will be associated to you. We know our colleagues have the best interests of our patients at all times, but mistakes can happen, so doing this is as much for your protection as well as that of our patients.     read more

We heart EPR in Sexual Health

Our sexual health team based at Broad Street have already gone live with their own EPR system and they're "loving it" according to general manager Gill Harries.  read more

2017/2018 Fire Training - via eLearning

This year colleagues must read a Fire Safety Handbook on their ESR eLearning account to make sure their mandatory fire training is up-to-date.     The course will show in your competence requirements 12 months after you last did your training, so some colleagues will see theirs appearing soon. It should take around 15-20 minutes to complete.  read more

Reminder: Important changes to webstation drives, plus Tap and Go guidance

   Important changes for those who use the webstation drive in clinical areas such as wards and clinics  For the last two months colleagues from THIS have been rolling out TAP & GO. The computers in these areas have been changed to either be a shared computer (kiosk) or a single user’s computer (workstation).  read more
