The toddler son of radiographer Andy Cross was guest of honour at the new room named after him on our Neo-Natal Unit at CRH.  Jake Cross, now nearly two, watched as his mum Becky snipped the ribbon at the new nursery created as a space for families to prepare for going home.

A-SaLT on Three Peaks for our patients. Top team

The Speech and Language Therapy Team at CRH have their sights on the gruelling Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to buy communications equipment for our patients recovering from a stroke.  The team work on both the acute and rehab stroke wards to assess and offer therapy for people with communication and swallowing difficulties after stroke.

HOOP and Nervecentre are just brilliant - says staff nurse Zoe Willows

As a mainly weekend worker, Staff Nurse Zoe Willows from ward 19 is so impressed with Nervecentre and HOOP she contacted Chief Exec Owen to tell him as much.  “In the past I’ve had to wait for the doctor, or stay near a phone after bleeping them. This was so frustrating because I want to spend time with my sick patients, not be standing by a phone waiting for a call”.

Angela Davies zooms off into retirement

After 18 years admin legend Angela Davies has roared off into retirement - in the sidecar of her MZ motorbike.  Her famous weird lunch combinations  at Glen Acre House including of cottage cheese and curry (!) beetroot on top of beans of toast will be no more.

End of Life Care event hailed brilliant

Around 70 colleagues from across CHFT, Locala, Calderdale and Greater Huddersfield CCGs, local Hospices and charities came together on the 4th of April to an inaugural event to look at the Trust’s new End of Life Care Strategy and discuss how to enhance and embed excellent end of life care services across our area.  read more

   The Workforce and Organisational Development  (WOD) Directorate held a "Time Out" session at Elland Cricket Club last Friday.   WOD includes colleagues working in Occupational Health, Resouring, Medical HR, OD and Training, Flexible Workforce, Workforce Business Intelligence and Business Partners.  read more

Get on Trac - new vacancies-filling system starts next month

As part of the Recruitment Improvement Plan the Trust has commissioned a state-of-the-art tracked recruitment system used by more than 200 trusts across the country.   During May 2017 the Recruitment and Medical HR teams will be processing all new vacancies through the Trac System.  This will  move all our recruitment activity to a web based system.  read more

Sue's a bonnet lass then!

There were 10 entries in total in the Easter Bonnet comp organsied by Clinical Skills and Simulation.  Six  were children so a junior and a senior category was set up.  Lead resuscitation officer Sue Shaw won the senior category with her very elegant bonnet.  read more

Patient Transport Service changes in light of EPR

All future Patient Transport bookings will be required to be made via the YAS on-line booking system.  This is because, as part of the implementation programme for EPR, it has been identified that the current method of booking patient transport with Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS), via PAS and through EPR will not be possible following go-live.  read more

FR2 defibrillators being upgraded...come to our drop-in session tomorrow

Does your clinical area have an FR2 defibrillator? If so this will be upgraded to an FR3 defibrillator in the near future.     Come along to a drop in session in the Simulation Suite, Sub-basement, HRI tomorrow  (Thursday 13th April) from 9am – 12pm to familiarise yourself with this equipment.        read more

Six places on trial park and electric bike ride scheme next Thursday

Colleagues are invited to try in a trial park and ride - under your own steam -  next Thursday. (April 20)  Electric bikes will be based at Halifax Fire Station and colleagues can park for free there and cycle down past the moor and into work with a Bikeability instructor.  read more
