Porter Jamie is our Star

Jamie Green was our last porter at Princess Royal Community Hospital. (PRCH)  He went for a month and ended up there for six years  before finally closing the door for the last time on the building which has now been sold to Locala.  And his work in the runup to the handover led facilities manager Andrew Donegan to nominate him for a Star Award.

Stroke team record top score again

Fab news again for CHFT  strokecare in the latest performance figures for teams across Yorkshire and Humber.     Our team  providing acute and rehabilitation care at CRH is the best performer in West Yorks scoring a high B – in fact  we were just 1% short of an A. Only Scunthorpe was better in the whole of the Yorks and Humber area.

Eileen Hamer's "no-fuss" retirement and her truly emotional parting words.

Trust stalwart Eileen Hamer has retired today after 29 years here.  Comms caught up with her over cupcakes at HRI. There was also more cake at another session at CRH.

Legs get knitting! Octopuses needed!

   Our Special Care Baby Unit colleagues  are urging  knitting fans to cast on and create octopus comforters. The octopuses offer comfort to premature babies as the tentacles are said to mimic the feeling of the umbilical cord in the womb.  Once the babies leave our care the octopuses go with them hence the need for more.  read more

GP Careers Fair - a prescription for success

 40 GP trainee GPs and representatives from 10 GP practices attended our  third careers fair at the Learning and Development Centre at CRH.      Our Medical Education department runs the GP training programme for Calderdale and Kirklees (Pennine General Practice Speciality Training Scheme).  read more

HRI Porters and Estates helpdesks have merged

In preparation for the roll out of EPR, our estates and porters helpdesks have merged into one.       You will notice when you contact the Helpdesk that we have introduced a voice Contact Centre. You will be advised you have reached the Estates and Porters helpdesk and what position you are in the queue.  read more

To be or not to be..... a winner? Carole Hallam's big night at Shakespeare's theatre venue!

Carole Hallam's loving her new rising star title after scooping a top award at the British Journal of Nursing awards in London.     They were held at the "Underglobe" venue beneath the reconstructed Shakespeare's Globe theatre on the South Bank.  read more

Research helping build the profile of CHFT

Dr Mansoor Ali, research nurse Matt Robinson and the wider research team have been recognised for their hard work in recruiting patients into a national controlled trial called STOP ACEi.     The team were thanked specifically by the Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit (BCTU) who run the STOP-ACEi programme.  read more

Ever thought you'd like a different way to get to work other than using your car?
