Ladies in Red - Charitable Funds backing our trailblazing dementia team

Meet our Ladies in Red… at the forefront of pioneering care for our patients with dementia.     They do an outstanding role, which has won awards over the years, so now they’ve a new red uniform to make them stand out and which also sets them apart from any other team in the Trust.

Director of Operations (Medicine) Asif Ameen is happy with the booking figures so far

Asif's cheering as Medicine tops the EPR end-user training sign-up league this week. Also, watch Gemma on film "Go with it - you'll never look back".

End-user training bookings are going really well with almost 56% of colleagues across CHFT booked on to a course in just four weeks.  Our main photo is Director of Operations for Medicine Asif Ameen jumping with joy at this week's figures. They show they've taken a lead at 67% sign-up.

Emmerdale's Eric Pollard and wife open new Teenage section at Children's Ward

Emmerdale's longest-serving cast member and bit-of-a-baddie, Eric Pollard, was a real goodie on the children's ward at Calderdale Royal Hospital.     Actor Chris Chittell turned up with real-life wife actress Lesley Dunlop for the opening of the new teenage section on the ward.

Nurse Training at Huddersfield Uni among best in the country.

Big congrats to our partners at Huddersfield University.  They’re through to the finals of the Student Nursing Times Awards 2017 as being a teaching provider.     The awards attracted hundreds of entries this year and Huddersfield University has made in onto the final shortlist  of 11 nurse teachers for the finals in London on  April 27.  read more

Why sharing isn't always a good thing - keep your password secret & keep our info safe

It's really important that we keep our passwords and logons to ourselves. This way we know all the information stored about patients and colleagues is always safe. There has been a recent incident arising from an occasion where a password had been shared and we'd not want this to be repeated. Please keep it to yourself.  read more

Eye, eye....new waiting room on ward 8D improving the patient experience

Until recently patients waiting in ward 8D at CRH for the ophthalmology department's emergency out-of-hours service had to sit in cubby holes and corridors. But with some support from charitable funds they're now able to sit in their own dedicated waiting room.  read more

Saturday is our 2nd Nursing Jobs Fair - meet our new model Band 5s.

We're hoping for a good turnout at our second Nursing Jobs Fair - looming on Saturday.     We've already a guaranteed 30 interviews with many more attending for information with a veiw to the future. Our Deputy Director of Nursing Lindsay Rudge will be welcoming everyone this time.  read more

Reminder: Tree planting next week Tuesday 28 February - spaces still available

There are still spaces left for next Tuesday's tree planting day at Calderdale Royal Hospital - a small part of sharing the benefits of wellbeing with colleagues.  It's a great opportunity for colleagues to get involved in planting up our staff wellbeing forest gardens.  Colleagues can meet the team from Community Forest Trust and learn about fruit trees.  read more
