Patient flow teams on both sites.

Green for go in flow! Top team effort means no patients longer than 100 days

For the first time since we started counting (in 2014) we have no patients in the hospitals who have been here over 100 days thanks to an all-round superb effort on patient flow.     Patient flow is centred on three key areas:  Patients being admitted through their GP or by A&E, their journey to diagnosis and treatment and then returning home.

Flu has closed an entire school this week - so if you're any doubt then act now and get your jab. Also see the video from today's first Mannequin Challenge!

Flu has closed an entire school this week. That's how bad it is this winter!     It's so bad the school is shut for five days after almost a third of pupils and members of staff were struck by the virus. About 330 pupils and 25 staff at Bramhall High School in Stockport, Greater Manchester, have been off since Tuesday.

You got some-tin for the homeless this Xmas?

Estates legends Andrew Jackson and John Ennis are collecting tinned food for the homeless this Christmas.     Colleagues can donate tomorrow (Friday) and on Tuesday in the main entrance in HRI.      All donations will be handed over to charities caring for homeless people in our communities.

New Operational Pressure reporting levels     There is a new national system for escalating operational pressures which means that all parts of the NHS are using the same terminology and standards.     The new standards are called OPELS - Operational Pressures Escalation Levels.  read more

Huge thanks to colleagues from both sites who have donated kindness boxes to Caren Reid and Angela Hope in the SIM which will be distributed to older and vulnerable patients this Christmas.     You can still prepare and drop-off your boxes as the duo are collecting up to and including tomorrow. Health Education England (HEE) last week announced the test sites that will deliver the second wave of training for the new nursing associate role.     CHFT will be a one of 24 sites across England that deliver training for the nursing associate role.  read more

Teddies

ED Special: 200 students hear about working in ED and special teddies delivery.

   There was a huge turn-out at Huddersfield Uni for Ruth and Andy who delivered a presentation to 200 3rd year students about working in our Emergency Depts.     The presentation was designed to promote emergency care as a career to 3rd year students who very soon will be making the decision of where to begin their careers.  read more
