Nursing Revalidation - October 2015

   This is an important notice for all colleagues who are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council. (NMC)  Later this year, all NMC registered nurses and midwives regardless of their role will have to undergo a revalidation process.  The indented change commences in October 2015.

New Primary Care Discharge Co-ordinator Service

A new Primary Care Discharge Co-ordinator Service has been created which aims to improve patient experience and reduce admissions to hospital.  The team, which is based within the primary care setting across Greater Huddersfield, comprises senior nurses who will be working closely with GPs and a range of services to support patients to remain in their own homes.

Muddy good effort!!

Our breast surgery team at CRH is taking part in a 10k Wild Mud Run/assault course for charity. Alison Waterworth, centre, Vicki Whiteley, right and Rebecca Frost, left, will be joined by Tasha Abbott, Jacki Blackwell and Matthew Williams (not pictiured) in the challenge on April 18 in Osmaston Manor, Derbyshire.

C.difficile - the challenge for 2015/16

Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) is one of the major causes of infective diarrhoea.  Our Trust has been tackling the numbers of in-patients with C.difficile Infection (CDI) through a variety of measures including Department of Health (DH) guidelines which focus on antibiotic guidelines, infection prevention and control precautions and other initiatives.  read more

Farewell Dr Sliwo

Our geriatric consultant Edward Sliwo todayretired from the Trust after 30 years.  Dr Sliwo, who did his medical training in Baghdad, came to St Luke's in 1985 as a senior house officer, completed his registrar post in North Shields and returned to Huddersfield in 1989. He plans to celebrate his retirement with a cruise.  He said: "I shall miss everyone at HRI.  read more
