Catch that baby! HRI colleagues to the rescue as car park baby Joseph arrives early.

A family has hailed the emergency teamwork at HRI after their baby boy was born in the car park after a very rapid labour turned to a birth.  Our Sexual Health Nurse, Lesley Pither and midwives Jessica Craner and Toni Patchitt ended up in tears of joy after the trauma on the tarmac.

Emma's a Star for a very caring discharge as time was running out.

Staff Nurse Emma Karim has picked up our latest Star Award for arranging the most caring discharge for a patient who had just hours to live.  From the nomination below it reads like the perfect discharge is very, very difficult circumstances.  Emma, said: "Despite the situation this was a really lovely discharge.

Digi Champ Mandy's in the pink (socks) and gobsmacked!

The room erupted as Mandy Griffin was hailed as the Digital Health Awards Chief Information Officer of the Year 2019.  It's the second big win for CHFT and follows Jackie Murphy's win last year at the same awards.

Beating cholesterol, heart attacks and stroke - CHFT trials new drugs

CHFT is currently taking part in a pioneering trial - to test if an injection could reduce bad cholesterol and deaths from heart attacks and strokes.  The trial - on a voluntary basis - is called Orion-4 and being coordinated by Oxford University. The aim is to investigate how a drug could lower levels of bad cholesterol.

Pivotal for PACS - team of four collect Star Award for supporting radiology switchover.

A team of four has been hailed CHFT Star Award winners for steering and supporting the Trust through the new PACS system for radiology.  Dave Armitage, Mark Williams, Ming Ling and Sarah Wilson*, were stunned when CEO Owen Williams appeared in a meeting which they thought involved NHS England.

They may not have won... but they had lots of fun! CRH Acute Floor at HSJ Patient Safety Finals

Our Acute Floor at CRH had a blast at the HSJ Patient Safety Awards in Manchester - especially in the photo booth.  Twenty-two category winners were celebrated at the awards in Manchester on Tuesday night.   We were shortlisted in two categories - Best Emerging Solution for Patient Safety and Patient Safety Innovation of the Year.

Knee-rly there. Day case surgery run close at Transformation finals.

There were celebrations x3 yesterday at the Healthcare Transformation Awards  finals in London.  Linda Denham, Adele Lee and Jo Spencer from ward 8A and our  Digital Day Case Knee Pathway were Highly Commended in the Digital Innovation category.  And their highpoint of the day - very, very special coffees in their own images*. Ladles of love for CHFT food. Inpatient Survey 2018 - Results out today

Our Catering teams can be celebrating today following the publication of the 2018 Inpatient Report.  Our food rating has shown the biggest improvement of all categories and is a reflection of all the hard work from our teams behind the scenes in the kitchens, the menu and choices provided and the ward delivery services.

Jan's a Star and an "amazing" manager for "being there".

Ward manager Jan Calverley has been hailed as the most supportive boss ever...   Chief Nurse Jackie Murphy sprung the Star Award surprise on her after healthcare assistant Kirsteen Doherty nominated her for helping her through a very tough personal time. Triggered by a family episode years ago, Kirsteen was having difficulty coping.

Gary, Howard and Mark.... Davies! Our ED consultant's view of Take That in Huddersfield.

ED consultant, Mark Davies and registrar Michaela Blood, 12 ambulance personnel and 32 first-aiders kept 28,000 Take That fans safe during the band’s epic concert in Huddersfield on Tuesday night.   The crowd ranged from babes in arms to grannies and grandads and the John Smith Stadium rocked.
